Occupational Hygiene Officer

The incumbent will be required to assist the Occupational Hygiene Specialist in measuring, monitoring, and investigating hygiene stressors within the operations.
**Key responsibilities will include**:
- Conducting Occupational Hygiene stressors surveys, compiling reports giving recommendations to prevent high exposures, and participating in the investigation into causes of high exposures.
- Management and maintenance of the weighing room.
- Facilitating occupational hygiene 11.5 investigations.
- Responding to any Occupational Hygiene related complaints by measuring, monitoring and close out reports.
- Responsible for all legal required surveys not limited to DMRE returns information, milestone measurements, confined spaces, noise zone mapping, vibration, ergonomics & ad hoc internal surveys.
- Contributing to baseline, issue based and continuous hygiene risk assessment.
- Compiling Occupational hygiene exposure reports and maintain database.
- Collecting portable water samples for bacteria, chemical and Legionella.
- Conducting respiratory fitment test to employees.
- Ensuring that all instrumentation, within the department, is maintained and calibrated.
- Performing SHEQ related non-routine functions (Planning, meetings, auditing).
- Assisting with compliance in terms of COR 141.
- Ensuring compliance to quality assurance COP.

**Qualifications & Experience**:
- National Diploma, preferable B-tech/Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent.
- Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control.
- Intermediate level of computer literacy (MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Advanced Certificate in Mine Environmental Control or the Certificate as Occupational Hygienist (SAIOH) will be advantageous.
- Radiation Protection Monitoring Certificate (RPM) will be advantageous.
- 2 - 3 years’ work experience in an Occupational Hygiene Department.
