**_ Position Purpose:_**

To initiate develop and implement safety health environment and quality systems and processes for the entrenchment of

enterprise wide risk management and quality practices and compliance through the anticipation, analysis and treatment of

financial, business and operational risks attached to any process, assets, environment or stakeholder activity that may result

in ill-health, injury or loss to any asset or property or that may impact negatively on the image of Transnet in a manner that

fulfills the mission and strategic goals of the organization.

**_ Position outputs:_**

Provide quantitative and qualitative risk assessments of all business and operational processes through leading and

facilitating the required course of action for mitigating pure, business, financial and operational risks.

Key indicators: Enterprise Wide Risk Management (ERM) risk assessments, risk treatment plans, environmental and

occupational hygiene risk assessment, management reports, action plans, statistics and accredited systems.

2. Retain safety health environment and quality management systems certification through implementation of initiatives,

appropriate for demonstrating continuous improvement, international best practice and management commitment. Key

indicators: ISO9001 accreditation, ISM Document of Compliance, OHSAS18000 certification, ISPS Code certification,

systems surveillance audit reports, action plans.

3. Achieve optimal safety health and environmental systems efficiency through the development and integration of such

systems in line with international best practice and Transnet strategies and goals. Key indicators: Systems integration

accreditation OHSAS18000, BSI 25999 - Business Continuity Management, AMS 16000 SANS 3000 and BSI 25999

accreditation.

4. Entrench enterprise wide risk management (ERM) through constant interaction with resource managers and the creation

of a culture conducive to participation and understanding risk management issues, performance evaluation and corporate

reporting to ensure alignment with Transnet requirements and protocols. Key indicators: risks analyses, external / internal

audit reports, action plans and statistics.

5. Provide justification of preventive measures by cost benefit analysis following investigation into incidents and root cause

analyses and initiating / monitoring corrective action. Key indicators: Systematic Casual Analyses Technique (M-SCAT)

reports, cost benefit analyses reports.

6. Provide effective understanding of statutory requirements through the reviewing and interpretation of legislation, guidelines

and resolutions and develop procedure and guidelines encompassing and linked to such requirements specific to the

business in a manner that is understood by personnel at all level of the organization. Key indicators: Standing Operating

Procedures (SOP's), critical task analyses, system standards, action plans and audit reports and SHE legal register.

7. Provide training and education of line management, in the methodology of risk control techniques for effective risk

communication session.

8. Maintain incident and occurrence management system in line with Transnet requirement. Key risk indicators: Incident

analysis reports, cost benefit analyses, trend analyses and statistics, NCR's, cost of risk, Transnet Occurrence Management

System (TOMS).

9. Ensure effective management of the business insurance portfolio Key indicators: claims reports and submissions, statistics

data base.

10. Maintain liason with stakeholders, local authorities, private industry to gauge and ensure complaince with existing

occupational health and safety legislation, effective control over non-compliance and good corporate governance.

**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**

National Senior Certificate
B Tech / National Diploma in Environmental Health, Public health or equivalent.
M+4 or NADSAM
Registration with the HPSCA ( Health Professions Council of South Africa) will be advantageous
