Senior Associate: Corporate and Commercial

Takes a lead role on a variety of matters (or aspects of matters) across a range of sectors.
- Develops and maintains good working relationships with clients up to the most senior levels, likely to be the first point of contact on many matters and may have a portfolio of small to mid-sized clients
- Contributes to the financial success of the practice by achieving the individual accounting targets
- Is accountable for matters and ensures that they are completed within deadline and the applicable quality requirements
- Recognizes issues that require research and allocates appropriate resources, providing direction as required
- Drafts complex documents possibly without precedents, and supervises junior colleagues
- Analyses complex legal and commercial issues, develops strategies and argues points constructively and succinctly
- Is proactive in proposing commercial solutions to clients and colleagues, acts as a business adviser
- Gains knowledge of our clients’ business and economic drivers as well as an understanding of the markets and sectors where our clients operate in order to deliver commercially astute advice
- Builds and maintain client relationships
- Work as part of a team, including supervising, coaching and mentoring junior members of the team
- Manages medium-sized client pitches in conjunction with Partners and may be a key member of the pitch team
- Contributes to thought leadership
**Requirements**:
- Broad and extensive knowledge of corporate commercial and litigation matters
- Exposure to a wide range of sectors with the ability to work competently with the regulatory and contractual frameworks applicable to matters
- Experience of working with international clients in the corporate and sector
- Experience preparing and participating in pitches to clients
- Ability to work with a high degree of independence and accuracy
- Exceptional drafting skills and legal research ability
- Dedicated to exceptional client service
- Excellent business development ability and demonstrates market focus
- Strong financial and business awareness
- Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Appointees will be based between our **Johannesburg **and **Cape Town **office.
