Purpose of the Role:
The Retail Manager will need to ensure strong execution and results of retail activities planned by the team, advise on potential opportunities, evaluate where initiatives are not working, advise the rest of the brand team where immediate changes are needed and drive the implementation of these changes.
The Retail Manager will be in control of all projects concerning retail activities and retail performance of the CHANEL Fragrance & Beauty within the SA marketplace. The role should demonstrate absolute command of the brand from a retail perspective including market knowledge, campaign launch opportunities, and sites and events opportunities in-store, with specific focus on key Boutique and Beaute counters throughout SA.
The Retail Manager should utilise the CHANEL Boutiques and any future stand-alone stores as a benchmark of excellence to introduce and test retail initiatives that can then be adapted by other accounts throughout the SA marketplace.
It is the role of the Retail Manager to make sure that key stakeholders are fully aware of all retail activity planned for the above-mentioned stores and their corresponding budget requirements.
It is the role of the Marketing Manager to develop, set and monitor A&P spend monthly and annually in accordance with Chanel’s strategic objectives; the Retail Manager will work within these guidelines.

Detailed Duties & Responsibilities
1. In-depth Market KnowledgeMake it a priority to learn about the retail landscape in all retail groups by collating all necessary insights relevant to Chanel and its competitors, in conjunction with Sales Manager.Understand the retail arena in-depth to gain a full understanding of the marketplace including:

Analysis

Written analysis of CHANEL launches, and of relevant competitor initiatives in specified retail stores

Written reports analysing market share movements (CHANEL and competitors)

Competitor activity analysis and tracking

Regularly visiting stores to stay aware of market trends

2. Annual In-store Retail Marketing PlanLiaise with the Trade Marketing Manager and Sales Manager on the creation & execution of the retail calendar for relevant store groups.Contribute to the generation of a retail calendar detailing all in-store activities planned for relevant store groups.Book all relevant in store and eventing space to execute the retail calendar.Follow projects through to execution, delivery and review (e.g. POS materials, sites, windows, tester units with the support of the Trade Marketing Manager and Visual merchandiser)Ensure sign off of projects with Trade Marketing Manager from a budgetary perspectiveDefine retail marketing plan on the basis of the SA activity plan and consider the UK Calendar, the various retailer activities and specifically locally relevant opportunities picked up in the market.Develop and modify plan over time in conjunction with the SA Marketing team to provide a retail focus to all planned marketing activity for SA Flagship/Studio and Espace Parfums and Makeup Hub Doors.
