Health Actuary

**Position Overview**
An exciting new position has become available for a dynamic and self-motivated technical actuary to join the Global Health team. The primary objective of this position is to lead the ongoing development and maintenance of Helix, RGA’s health data warehouse and analysis platform, and promote and support the onboarding, analysis and reporting of health data through Helix. The role will require working closely with RGA IT teams in St Louis and various local health teams in Latin America, EMEA and Asia, as well as with other members of the Global Health team.

**Responsibilities**
- Be a global technical specialist for the global health/medical business, in particular on:

- Client health data
- Data warehousing
- Monitoring, analysing and projecting experience
- Supporting the development of assumptions, benchmarks and other data-driven analyses and R&D (thought leadership, product development, underwriting)
- Maintain and enhance the Helix platform by understanding local and global data and analysis requirements and working with RGA IT teams to specify, develop, test and implement solutions and features to meet those requirements
- Manage the relationship between Helix and RGA IT teams, including setting goals and managing deliverables and milestones in collaboration with the project manager
- Define, develop and document enhanced monitoring/reporting and projections methodologies/best practices to be used when monitoring health insurance portfolios
- Develop, enhance and work with local health teams to implement monitoring of in-force business through the adoption of Helix to ensure RGA can identify and stay ahead of any trends, as well as take necessary corrective action, both at global, portfolio & treaty level.
- Train local and global actuaries, actuarial students and health teams - both internal and external.
- Assist in the management of any business maintained globally out of the Global Health Team.
- Keep on top of global developments that may impact RGA.
- Support the Chief Actuary - Global Health in ensuring adequate and relevant standards and qualities are in place, implemented and regularly reviewed to manage the reinsurance risks accepted and enable the growth of the global health portfolio.
- Support the development of and data integration from value-added products and services.

**Requirements**:

- Experienced data and analytics specialist with a strong background in programming, building/maintaining/specifying actuarial systems/software and health data analysis and reporting.
- Qualified actuary, or an experienced professional with an actuarial/statistical/analytics degree
- 3-5 years PQE, or 3-5 years in a senior role for non-actuarially qualified, predominantly in medical/health business.
- Considered a specialist in health, with experience of health/medical insurance products within at least one market and willingness to learn others.
- A high level of proficiency in SQL (or similar languages), MS Office and Tableau
