Our client is a prominent private company that owns a number of established outlets in the Western Cape. They are expanding and have a need for enthusiastic people to support this growth, which includes a Floor Manager position based in Eerste River, Cape Town

**Job Purpose**:
The purpose of the Floor Manager is to effectively plan, control and monitor the performance of the floor department including groceries, perishable, frozen and back up areas and ensure they operate at an optimal level.

**Responsibilities**:
Manage department targets and profitability of all floor departments including Groceries, Non
- foods, Perishables, Frozen, HABA, Sweets and Back Up Areas

Meet sales target - develop and implement strategies to meet sales targets

Meet gross profit targets - develop and implement strategies to meet GP targets

Maintain expenses within budget

Contain shrinkage within the budget - develop and implement shrinkage controls

Wastage - consistently monitor wastage and develop and implement methods to reduce wastage

Performance per product category. Optimize sales m/² for each department by setting targets per product category

Evaluate rate of sale / product category and implement recommendations for improvement

Assist in the hiring process of floor staff

Ensure the Floor staff is trained at all times

Induction and training of new staff members

Scheduling of the staff, ensuring a standby list is in place in the event of absenteeism

Address performance and personnel issues in a timely manner

Take responsibility to meet the performance targets as set by Management

Adhere to company Rules and Regulations and Policies and Procedures and ensuring staff compliance there to daily management of staff with regards to delegating task, motivation, and discipline, and including but not limited rules and regulations

Manage the timekeeping of the department on a day-to-day basis - coming late for work and leaving early is unacceptable

Observe and control both lunch and break times

Ensure attendance of staff is at the company level required

Self-disciplined and lead by example always

**Skills Required**:

Diligence throughout the store

Ability to identify and solve problems

Take initiative

Communication skills in order to train staff members and communicate problem areas

Accurate with figures

Interpersonal skills

Commitment to delivery and quality

Good people management skills

Be able to delegate effectively, operate independently and as part of a team

Good administration skills

**Qualification and requirements**:
Grade 12

2 years managerial experience

Salary - Market related

Working hours - Between Monday and Sunday, Rotational shifts
