Main Purpose of the Role
The Communications manager creates and maintains a favorable image of the business by communicating programs,
accomplishments and/or points of view to both internal and external stakeholders. This role is tasked with, amongst others, fielding media questions and pitching stories to the media, preparing media kits and organizing press conferences. It is also responsible for measuring and monitoring the market response to all communications.
The Communications Manager must be able to maintain rapport and bridge communication chasms by cultivating quality conversations and nurturing personal relationships.
As a manager of this process, this role must be responsive, helpful, and friendly to every inquirer and ensure that the business key strategic messages are communicated in a consumable manner. This position will plan and direct the creation of material that will maintain or enhance the public image of the company. They will monitor market response and direct communication in line with target market requirements.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Strategy Development and Execution
Take ownership of brand and communications management to ensure that brand messaging is aligned to the business overall strategic intent and communicated in a manner that secures brand integrity and improves brand awareness and loyalty in the market
Develop and lead the implementation of a strategic communications plans inclusive of a dissemination plan for key programmatic outputs
Establish and maintain sustainable relationships with key industry stakeholders and be the point of contact for strategic public relations communications for the business
Develop public relations content and manage media relations to display a positive image of the business at all Times
Media-Relations Management (External)
Promote the business as a visible leader in the real estate market through networking, strategic engagements, active partnerships, publications and presentations
Develop and manage/monitor the budget within the spending approval levels
Oversee media monitoring and establish relations with media to ensure positive reporting and to increase the number of media engagements and exposure
Establish effective communications channels by making best use of available resources to deliver quality results
Make full use of new and innovative digital communications methods to disseminate messages and raise awareness of supported initiatives and outputs
Communications Management (Internal)
Develop communications strategy and toolkit
Oversee the capturing and broadcasting of business success stories and foster the ongoing development of tools that support the dissemination of news and information through internal communications platforms
Actively manage the internal corporate brand and ensure compliance to brand procedures and rules
Derive plans to increase employee engagement through communications channels and campaigns
Performance Marketing and Reporting
Draft reports to measure performance of key portal metrics as a direct result of intentional brand communications
Provide the Digital Marketing Specialist with annual strategies and product information
Brief Digital Marketing Specialist and digital agency on digital requirements as per business strategies, outlining objectives and targets
What you Need to Succeed
Minimum Degree in Public Relations Management, Communications Degree
Minimum 5 years experience in the communications field
Experience in both internal and external
Demonstrated ability to lead a small team of specialists
Demonstrated Knowledge of the latest global socio-digital media tools and communication trends
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and execute on a digital strategy
You will need to be based in either Jhb or Cape Town as this role offers a hybrid way of working with 2 or 3 days per week in office
