Quality Assurance Pharmacist

**Purpose of the Job**:
To assist in the effective management of the warehouse and distribution functions in order to supply goods and service to customers whilst conforming to statutory requirements of the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) and South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).

**Job Objectives**:
**Manage warehouse operations within legal requirement**
- Assist in the management of the wholesale pharmacy and in ensuring the safe and effective storage and storage of medicines and scheduled substances.
- Ensure that good housekeeping standards are met, as well as that occupational health and safety regulations are followed.
- To ensure the efficient management of product returns, product recalls, the destruction process, and the reporting of product complaints/adverse events.
- To ensure the effective management of CAPAs and deviations, as well as the calibration and maintenance of critical equipment.
- Keep abreast of any changes in regulations or legislation that may have an impact on quality systems.
- Ensure that quality systems are in place and that they are kept up to date with current best practices.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all legally required products, purchases, sales, possessions, storage, safekeeping, and returns.
- Maintain the quality and integrity of all products stored, returned, and sold to ensure that all legal requirements for the issuance of schedule substances are met.
- Ensure that cold chain maintenance and batch traceability are adhered to and conducted.
- Identify and address development needs in collaboration with the Distribution Centre Manager.
- Assuring that all information is easily accessible and backed up for audit purposes.
- Liaising with the clients regarding expired, short dated and damaged stock.
- Manage and ensure the rejected, damaged and expired stock are disposed off, as per waste disposal process.
- Serve as Deputy Responsible Pharmacist when needed.
- Regularly review system reports, and respond promptly if necessary to guarantee that all orders are sent out on time.

**Staff Management**
- Responsible for planning, allocating, and supervising work; disciplining staff; responding to complaints; and solving issues.
- Assist new Trainee Pharmacist Assistants and/or Technicians by acting as a tutor.
- Conduct disciplinary hearings in accordance with Shoprite policies where necessary and appropriate.
- Perform personnel administration when necessary.
- Scheduling of staff to ensure proper staffing levels are available to respond to, and meet work demands in a productive, cost effective and timely manner.

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**
- Bachelor of pharmacy degree / Equivalent Pharmaceutical qualification
- Registered as a pharmacist at the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)

**Experience**:

- 5 years' experience as a Pharmacist, with 2-3 years' experience in Warehousing.
