**Key Responsibilities**:

- A **storeman** (or storekeeper) is responsible for managing the storage, organization, and distribution of goods in a warehouse or store. Their key duties typically include:
1. **Receiving Goods**: Accepting deliveries of stock, checking them for accuracy, quality, and condition, and ensuring they match purchase orders or delivery documentation.

2. **Stock Organization**: Storing goods in an orderly and accessible manner, following procedures for proper shelving, labeling, and categorization to optimize space and minimize loss or damage.

3. **Inventory Management**: Keeping track of stock levels, performing regular stock checks (inventory counts), and updating inventory records to reflect incoming and outgoing goods.

4. **Stock Replenishment**: Monitoring stock levels and notifying management when items need to be reordered, ensuring that the store or warehouse has the necessary items on hand to meet demand.

5. **Issuing Stock**: Picking and preparing items for orders or internal use, ensuring that the correct products are selected and properly packaged for dispatch.

6. **Stock Rotation**: Managing the rotation of stock, following FIFO (First In, First Out) or other inventory control methods to minimize product obsolescence and spoilage.

7. **Maintaining Cleanliness and Safety**: Keeping the storage area clean, organized, and free from hazards. Ensuring that safety protocols and health regulations are followed.

8. **Record Keeping**: Maintaining accurate records of goods received, issued, and stored, and reporting on inventory movements to supervisors or managers.

9. **Handling Returns**: Managing the process for returns or exchanges, including inspecting the condition of returned items and processing them back into the inventory system if applicable.

10. **Equipment Maintenance**: Ensuring the proper functioning of storage equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and shelving units.

11. **Team Collaboration**: Working with other team members, sales, and procurement departments to ensure the smooth operation of the store or warehouse.

A store man must have good organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of inventory control systems. In some cases, physical strength may be required to handle large or heavy items.

**Requirements**:

- **Education**: High school diploma or equivalent; a certificate in logistics or warehousing is a plus.
- **Experience**: Previous experience in a storeman, warehouse, or inventory management role is preferred.
- **Technical Skills**: Basic computer skills to update inventory records; knowledge of warehouse management software is a plus.
- **Physical Requirements**: Ability to lift and move heavy items, and stand or walk for extended periods.
- **Attention to Detail**: Ability to spot discrepancies in inventory and ensure items are stored correctly.
- **Communication Skills**: Good verbal communication skills to interact with team members and other departments.
- **Problem-Solving**: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to stock or shipment discrepancies.
- **Organizational Skills**: Ability to keep stock organized and ensure timely movement of goods.
