**Job summary**:
As an International Tax Manager at South Pole, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with international tax laws, mitigating tax risks, and optimizing our global tax strategy. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, external partners, and governmental agencies to drive efficiency in our international tax operations while promoting financial transparency and integrity. You will help to develop, implement and monitor a new tax control & governance framework across all legal entities in South Pole. In addition, there will be a key focus on international tax issues (such as transfer pricing, withholding taxes, permanent establishment) and M&A/group reorganisation. This role is suited to someone who is keen to work in an evolving space, against the backdrop of landmark changes to the international tax landscape.
**Main tasks & responsibilities**:
- Tax Compliance and Reporting:
- Review international tax returns, including transfer pricing documentation, VAT/GST, and withholding tax filings.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of all required tax filings and reports in compliance with international tax regulations.
- Tax Planning and Strategy:
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the South Pole’s global tax position.
- Identification and evaluation of R&D tax regimes globally that might align to South Pole’s business model & strategy
- Provide guidance on international transactions, including withholding taxation, mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings, to minimize tax liabilities.
- Transfer Pricing:
- Oversee and manage transfer pricing policies and documentation, ensuring alignment with local and international OECD regulations.
- Perform benchmarking studies and work to maintain arm's length pricing.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential tax risks and develop strategies to mitigate and manage them effectively.
- Reviewing and managing the group’s permanent establishment risk;
- Monitor and stay up-to-date with changes in international tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Tax Compliance Reviews:
- Collaborate with external auditors and tax authorities during tax audits and reviews.
- Provide comprehensive documentation and support during the audit process.
- International Tax Research:
- Conduct research on international tax laws and provide recommendations to ensure tax efficiency and compliance.
- Stay informed about changes in international tax regulations and their potential impact on the company.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with finance, legal, and business lines to align tax strategies with overall business objectives.
- Educate and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on international tax matters.
- Review and assist with the computation of the deferred tax asset and liabilities reported by finance quarterly and reported taxation and deferred tax disclosure at a South Pole Group level in the annual financial statement.
**Requirements**:
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field together with Master's in International Tax or CPA/CA/ FCCA.
- Proven experience in international tax, transfer pricing, and tax planning (10 years of experience).
- Strong knowledge of international tax laws, regulations, and accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in tax software and financial systems.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and global environment.
- Strong project management and leadership skills.
- English language proficiency
