Business Description
Sanlam Retail Affluent (SRA) cluster is responsible for Sanlam’s retail business in South Africa. SRA provides clients across different market segments with a comprehensive range of appropriate and competitive financial solutions. These include traditional life insurance risk and savings products, investment, retirement, health and fiduciary services. Our products are designed to facilitate long-term wealth creation, protection, and niche financing and therefore these solutions are engineered around client needs.

- and post-retirement investment needs of the middle-income and affluent segments.
Responsible for the implementation of products. The incumbent prepares a brief outlining the implementation procedures, the rate parameters, the business rules, et cetera and is responsible for the maintenance of product information. This position provides the training ground for the senior product manager positions. What will make you successful in this role?
Job purpose
The Product Manager will be responsible for ensuring that Glacier has a compelling Intermediary and Client value proposition for life annuities and other guaranteed annuity solutions. The person will be responsible for the development and enhancement of these products on the Sanlam Life and Glacier platforms.
Key outcomes
The following outcomes will be expected to be achieved by the Product Manager:

- Providing product management insights across the product platform with particular focus on product enhancements and competitive standing of the guaranteed annuity portfolio in line with the business strategy
- Setting weekly annuity rates and managing and reviewing pricing on an ongoing basis
- Coordinating all new developments and enhancements with stakeholders incl. Actuarial, Legal & Compliance, Client Services, IT & Sales
- Providing ongoing support to the Sales and Marketing teams, inter alia
- Guiding the content and structure of marketing and other positioning material
- Proving product specific training and guidance on position of solutions to the sales teams
- Engage, as required, with corporate clients
- Develop good relationships with business partners and regulatory authorities
- Playing an active role in project planning and business development for the guaranteed annuity portfolio
- Researching, tracking and analysing local and international industry trends and competitors’ performance for guaranteed annuity portfolio and other retirement income solutions.

Qualifications and experience
- BSC or BCOM degree and good progress with the Actuarial examinations toward an Associate or higher qualification
- Demonstrable track record of managing a product or service portfolio with responsibility for the key performance metrics

Knowledge
- A good knowledge of long-term insurance industry in South Africa with an emphasis on the guaranteed annuity portfolio and other retirement income solutions
- A good understanding of the Actuarial, tax and regulatory framework
- A good knowledge of Sanlam Life’s administration and reporting systems will be an advantage.
