**_ Position Purpose:_**

The MC&I Mechanician is responsible for maintenance, fault-finding and repair of all instrumentation, metering and control

equipment in accordance with Transnet Pipelines policies and procedures and to International Standards, in classified

hazardous locations and potentially explosive atmospheres in order to ensure safe, efficient and effective custody transfer

and transportation of petroleum products. The MC&I Mechanician is also responsible for minor installation of MC&I

equipment.

**_ Position outputs:_**

Routine Maintenance
- Perform scheduled maintenance within cluster in accordance within SAP generated schedules and according to procedure

on a weekly and monthly basis
- Report on maintenance work done and on matters arising.
- Ensure calibration equipment is maintained as required

Fault Finding
- Report on faults and generate job cards
- Fault finding on metering equipment, control systems, and instrumentation
- Calls outs and stand by when required
- Report on equipment condition and maintenance or work done.

SAP (PM)
- Retrieval of job cards, defects and maintenance schedules from SAP PM
- Enter relevant information / close out onto SAP PM
- Request items from stores according to procedures
- Make out requisitions and purchase via SAP

SMALL PROJECTS/ INSTALLATIONS
- Implement approved changes
- Installation of instrumentation
- Assist with commissioning of projects

MAINTENANCE CONTRACTS
- Request services from existing maintenance contracts

**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**
- Complete Apprenticeship (3 years) in Instrumentation/a formal technical qualification with related training and 3 years on

the job experience in an instrumentation environment and relevant training in the following fields.
- SCADA Systems fundamentals
- Windows fundamentals
- Custody Transfer flow Metering Principles
- Instrument communication protocols
- Computer Literate
- S.A.P. Training (Plant Maintenance, Purchasing and Inventory)
- Basic actuator course (low-voltage)
- Code 08 drivers licence
- Safety, Fire Fighting, Security Course / OHS Act Course
- Have a fair knowledge of all Metering and Instrumentation equipment and process control systems in use in the relevant

cluster
