**Job description: Shipping Controller**

HK Enterprises is one of the fastest growing nuts and dried fruit producers &/ intermediaries in the African Union. We are currently looking for 2 Shipping Co-ordinators in the supply chain department.

You will be reporting directly to the COO, working with a busy & high paced team. Background required is an intermediary shipping experience and excellent communication skills. Being quick on your feet is what it takes excel in this fast-paced FMCG environment

**Responsibilities & duties**
- Open, populate and maintain hard copy files for each new shipment.
- Create shipping Instructions and ensure accuracy of information shared.
- Request and manage new bookings with our NVOCCs.
- Liaise with Suppliers and Buyers in different time zones about their shipment requirements.
- Weekly status reports to be scheduled to all buyers.
- Manage and control documentation flow with our agents, suppliers, and buyer’s documents.
- Processing administrative tasks, so all our departments are up to date of your latest shipments.
- Ensure the timeous preparation of shipping documents in advance.
- Ensure that all documentation received after loading, corresponds to the terms and conditions requested in the Shipping Instruction sent to the supplier.
- Perform daily tasks in accordance with an SOP.
- Negotiating rates with transporting, forwarding, and shipping companies.
- Monitor shipments until the empty containers are returned to the carrier.
- Manage file compliance before completion.
- Carry-out any other reasonable instruction from management.

**Requirements**:

- TVET College degree or BCom in shipping (other relevant qualifications are considered).
- At least 3 to 5 years of shipping experience. FMCG experience is a plus
- Experience with creating and checking transport documents.
- Computer literacy essential. - Excel, Outlook, Word.
- Excellent communication skills, English, Written and Oral.
- Must be willing to be available after hours & have a no-nonsense attitude.
- Ability to work in a structured and methodical manner, ensuring accuracy and neatness.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet changing deadlines.
- Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively across different cultures and time zones.
- Advanced interpersonal skills advantageous.
- Good understanding of South African Import and Export procedures, e.g. Port Health, DAFF etc.
