**_ Position Purpose:_**

Lead and guide the development of an integrated facilities and infrastructure management strategy and plan that is aligned to

the Transnet Engineering’s business strategy for the Plant.
Provide strategic direction and a coordinated approach in the implementation of facilities and infrastructure management

strategies for the Plant that enables operational excellence and achievement of required business objectives.

Manage the optimisation and rationalisation of the construction, upgrade and utilisation of the Plant assets.

Develop and implement a matrix structure for the Plant to ensure alignment and high-performance cross-functional teams.

**_ Position outputs:_**

Provide strategic leadership and guidance in the development of an integrated strategy and plan for effective facilities and

infrastructure management, ensuring optimum productivity levels, achievement of business objectives and the promotion of a

high-performance organisation.

Plan and ensure the effective implementation of the facilities and infrastructure management strategies so that the objectives

of the strategy are met within the required budget, time and quality requirements.

Drive long-range strategic planning for the plant, equipment and machinery maintenance by overseeing and managing all

operations including scheduled maintenance, machine breakdowns, asset management, inventory control and sustaining

infrastructure for Transnet Engineering.

Develop and implement effective policies, processes and plans and monitor adherence thereto to ensure that the Plant meets

legal requirements, business needs and organisational objectives and they are reflective of good practice and proper

governance.

Improve efficiencies within the Plant through the effective management of capacity planning and utilization, service quality

and reliability, equipment utilisation and reliability, people motivation and commitment.

Manage and direct the cross-functional management team within the Plant and provide access to the required resources to

meet the objectives set for the Plant. This includes, Plant, Equipment, Machinery Maintenance, Project Management Office

(PMO), ICT, Safety, Quality, Environmental management and Sustainability, Centralised Auxiliary Logistics, People

Management, Finance and Supply Management.

Manage Plant agreements/contracts with external vendors / suppliers in line with procurement policies, ensuring optimal

value.

Create, implement and manage systems and processes which ensure proactive action and efficiency of the business.

Establish mechanisms to measure the effectiveness of actual results against plans, communicates the status of plans and

initiates corrective action as necessary so that objectives are met.

Ensure effective management of facilities and infrastructure governance structures (CCM/CAC/PFMA/EE/SD/OEC etc.) as

per agreed-upon terms of reference. Ensure proper delegation of authority to all direct subordinates including functional

managers and ensure that audits are conducted as per company guidelines and recommendations implemented.

Initiate dialogue and engage with key stakeholders including employees, labour, customers, suppliers, communities, regional

government and industry, as required, to ensure effective internal and external stakeholder management.

Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations practices, ensuring compliance with all applicable safety, health

and environment policies in line with set standards.

Manage the Project Management Office (PMO) for all projects running within the Plant and ensuring that all capital projects

are managed within the agreed-upon time, scope, cost and quality.

Identify strategic and operational risks and ensure effective risk management and mitigation plans for the regional Centre to

ensure business sustainability.

Ensure that the Plant budget is aligned with busine
