Group Financial Controller

Location: Umhlanga

Reporting to: Group Finance Manager

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant
- SAICA / SAIPA articles completed
- Proven experience in a related finance role, at least 2 years post articles experience
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Excellent / Advanced excel skills
- Excellent Pastel knowledge
- Excellent Caseware knowledge
- Analytical, strategic, strong business acumen, entrepreneurial
- Able to make strategic decisions with respect to current portfolio
- Ideally Durban based
- Adding value to the finance function from a reporting, analytics, forecasting, budgeting, business planning perspective
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounting entries, where required
- Drafting of annual financial statements
- Assist with tax audits and tax returns
- Monthly management accounts
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Plan, assign and review staff’s work

Systems
- Operate on the best IT platforms, well-structured and well-run systems
- Pastel, Caseware and VIP Payroll - finance systems
- SARS e-filing (Tax returns)

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

- Financial Analysis
- Forecasting
- Budgets
- Reporting
- VAT/PAYE and Income Tax knowledge
- Excellent numeracy and excel skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented, organized, flexible, and able to work in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities
- Able to manage priorities and time, effectively
- Ability to work in a diverse culture
- Ability to work independently under mínimal supervision
- Ability to analyse and reconcile complex accounts and reserves

**Education**:

- Bachelors (preferred)

Work Location: In person
