Senior Forensic Consultant

An opportunity exists in the Forensic Services Division of Mazars; an international professional services firm, based at Mazars House in Johannesburg. To undertake and / or manage timeous and quality delivery of individual assignments and assignments delegated to others in the team.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Manage individual productivity
- Train and consult on fraud awareness
- Prepare proposal documents / letters of engagement and submit for amendment and/or final approval
- Conduct or assist with forensic investigations as allocated by the Director
- Provide and/or assist with provision of litigation support - disciplinary; criminal; civil
- Research and analyse relevant data
- Achieve budget objectives
- Achieve letter of engagement / proposal document objectives
- Ensure quality of all delegated Forensic Services outputs (services / deliverables)
- Management of the team for assignments allocated
- Manage individual assignment budgets and marketing budget
- Plan, resource and set objectives for assignments or aspects of assignments allocated
- On-going review of own and delegated work (quality, timeous, productivity/turnaround times/WIP, completeness)
- Make recommendations as to policies, procedures, systems, standards and capacity management
- Resolve 1st line and escalated client queries
- Provide input into Forensic Services strategy, performance contracting, reviewing and feedback to staff
- Train, coach and develop others within the team
- Provide input / make recommendations to Director for selection of team members
- Role model the organizational culture, instil the Mazars culture in others and motivate the team
- Manage client relationships effectively to retain clients
- Grow and develop the client base by marketing services to existing and potential clients
**Minimum Requirements**:
- Relevant Honours degree in accounting, auditing, forensic investigation and / or law coupled with a professional qualification (CA (SA) and/or LLB preferable)
- Professional qualification (i.e. admission as an advocate who has undergone pupilage and who has practiced in chambers; admission as an attorney; chartered accountant; and/or certified fraud examiner) is essential
- At least 8 to 10 years working experience within forensic services, preferably in a consulting environment.
- At least 4 to 5 years’ experience as a manager within forensic services.
- Must be willing to travel extensively (national and international)
- Ability to grasp the way in which a client’s organisation operates, both formally and informally, in terms inter alia of its systems, processes, policies, procedures and/or practices
- Working knowledge of the law of evidence
- Above average knowledge of relevant legislation and legal process, including the Constitution and all legislation relevant to forensic services and forensic investigation (e.g. Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act of 2004, POCA, Protected Disclosures Act, FICA)
- Working knowledge of information gathering tools e.g. public and other databases (Transunion ITC, Experian, Krollmie, Cybertel, SAFPS), forensic software (Encase, Analyst Notebook) and surveillance and contacts
- Excellent writing and reporting skills
- Ability to gather information and analyse problems
- Excellent planning and organising skills
- Flexibility and able to adapt to change
- Quality and detail orientation
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple engagements and/or projects
