**The Role**
The Human Resource Officer is responsible for providing support in the various human resource functions, which include, maintaining company policy and procedures, HR and benefit administration, disability and death claims, Wellness etc.
**Skills and Experience**
Minimum**:

- Matric (essential)
- HR Qualification - Diploma (essential)
- B Degree (Advantageous)

**Key Accountabilities**
- **Industrial Relations**:

- Assist Managers and Supervisors with daily staffing concerns relating to disciplinary matters
- Attend internal Disciplinary Hearings when required
- Draft termination letters as required and communicate to payroll
- Follow up on matters referred to NBCRLI, CCMA and Labour Court.
- Attend hearings at NBCRFLI, CMMA with GEO when required
- **Employee Relations**:

- Assist employees with various matters relating to wages, illness, personal issues & loan requests
- Discusses employee matters with relevant managers to lend assistance to the employee where possible
- Provides counselling to employees when required
- Communicate employee death to staff and management - arrange for discussions with family members
- **Employee Benefits**
- Assist employees with:

- Disability claims & advice
- Funeral Benefit claims
- Death Claims
- Home loans / pension backed loans
- Assists management with communication to employees
- Medical Aid
- Educate members re: benefits and costs
- Handle daily queries
- Wellness Fund
- NBCRFLI - Educate members/ Assist members with queries
- Inform members about disability programme
- Assist with scheduling doctors’ appointments for referred employees
- **IOD / WCA**:

- Assist injured members to get to a hospital or home
- Visit family members to inform them about the accident
- Arrange transport for the family to and from hospital (if employee has been hospitalised)
- **Staff Transport**:

- Oversee the staff transport to and from work for employees on nightshift
- **Employee Wellness**:

- Identify employee wellness trends and issues and communicate to HR Generalist/Business Partners
- Participate in putting together employee wellness initiatives

**Personality and Attributes**:

- 5 Years’ experience in a HR environment
- Experience with Time and attendance systems advantageous
- Organisational skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Communication skills (verbal, written and listening)
- Basic counselling skills
- Conflict resolution skills
- Analysis and problem solving ability
- Change Management skills
- Reporting writing skills
