Team Leader - Back Office Transaction Processing - Cape Town

Summary of the position

The Team Leader: Back Office Transaction Processing will be expected to manage and implement controls, process and all projects as well as to plan and manage the production cycle of the system reconciliations area between Decalog and Invest One with the existing management team within the Fund Administration division. The individual will be required to manage and coordinate the output of the reconciliation teams, assisting with issues coming out of operations, supporting the team leaders, monitoring of the performance of the teams, management reporting for the area, and to ensure processes are followed and standards are adhered to.

Outline of main duties and responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the role will be:
Operational Management:

- Monitoring of service delivery by the team in terms of SLA and managing clients’ expectations regarding deliverables;
- The team leader of each individual team member’s performance and ensuring that output is of a high quality at all times;
- The management and co-ordination of team deliverables relating to projects and new client on-boarding;
- Providing mentorship and motivation to staff and ensuring that appropriate knowledge sharing and skills training is given;
- Responsibility for resolving issues that have been escalated by the administrators;
- Review processes periodically and ensure smooth operation of the desk.

Risk Management:

- Responsibility for managing risk in the team activities, by reviewing processes and ensuring that adequate controls are in place to mitigate risk;
- Assessing opportunities for improved efficiencies and reduced overhead in existing processes, including new technologies and tools.

Relationship Management:

- Build and maintain strong working relationships with external clients regarding matters pertaining to dealing activities;
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal back office teams regarding matters pertaining to dealing activities;
- Ensure that an SLA is in place and adhered to with external and internal clients.

Skills and experience required
- B.Com or similar tertiary business study and at least 3 years’ experience in Asset Management portfolio administration;
- Minimum of 2 years in a management or team leadership role;
- Strong Asset Management middle office knowledge and experience (especially underlying Hedge Fund and Unit Trust dealing and cash management);
- Sound knowledge and experience of back office administration processes;
- Confident & enthusiastic, and have a structured approach to work;
- Ability to work in a pressurised environment.

The Team Leader - Back Office Transaction Processing will report to Manager - Back Office Transaction.
