Our client, a leader in the private healthcare industry, is urgently looking for an experienced **Senior Professional Nurse** with proven work experience in a **Critical Care Unit. **This is a **permanent opportunity** at a private hospital in** **Cape Town Northern Suburbs** **in the** Western Cape**.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Valid SANC
- Postgraduate Diploma or Certificate in Critical Care is essential
- At least 5 years Clinical experience as a Professional Nurse in a Critical Care Unit
- Pharmacology
- Nursing record keeping
- Nursing processes and procedures
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
- Relevant nursing legislation
- Infection prevention and control (IPC) principles and protocols
- Scientific nursing principles and process
- Audit patient records
- Patient assessment skills
- Develop/ modify a nursing care plan
- Scope of practice for nurse practitioners
- For specialised wards; ACLS; ATLS; PALS trained;
- Risk identification
- Analysing and interpretation skills
- Basic life support trained

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Provides unit management support by maintaining quality management, performance management and people management practices
- Executes duties and responsibilities according to nursing scope of practice
- Ensure comprehensive and safe patient care by mitigating risks and meeting set clinical quality standards
- Manage the patient experience
- Ensure optimal supply, retention and utilisation of staffing resources
- Empower and build staff competence through continuous assessment and development
- Assist with the effective management of operational expenses (including stock and capital)
