Duties/Pligte

Daar sal van die finansiële
- en navorsingsbeampte verwag word om finansiële
- en navorsingsadministratiewe funksies, wat die onderstaande insluit, maar nie daartoe beperk nie, te verrig in die Departement Ekonomie:

- Finansiële bestuur: verantwoordelik vir die finansiële bestuur van die Departement, soos byvoorbeeld om alle inkomende fondse en betalings op te vang en te verifieer, en die Departement en personeel se kostepunte te bestuur;
- Administrasie van die finansiële aktiwiteite van die Departement en personeel, soos die betaling van vendors, aankope van die Departement soos toerusting en rekenaars, en die ondersoek en bestuur van navrae op begrotings;
- Finansiële administrasie soos die opstel van begrotings en verslae vir die Departement en personeel;
- Samestelling en aanbieding van en advisering op finansiële inligting;
- Opdatering en rekonsiliasie van finansiële kostepunte en die nagaan van finansiële rekeninge van die departement en personeel;
- Nagaan van eise en reisdokumente van departementele personeel en bestuur en byhou van die departementele bate register;
- Bly op hoogte van veranderinge aan die US se finansiële beleid en riglyne, en adviseer personeel oor riglyne en prosedures;
- Gee bystand aan personeel met die ontwikkeling van projek voorstelle en voorbereiding van projek begrotings, die nagaan van nakoming van die US se voorstelle en befondser vereistes, en verleen algemene bystand aan navorsers;
- PhD-, post-doktorale genote, en navorsingsgenote se administrasie, insluitend aansoeke, indien van tesisse/navorsingsverslae, en algemene administrasie van PhD studente, post-doktorale genote, en navorsingsgenote;
- Administrasie van navorsingsuitsette en Fakulteit navorsingsaandele van die Departement en personeel;
- Administrasie van die Departementele Etieksiftingskomitee (DESK) aansoeke van die Departement.

The financial and research administrative officer will be expected to perform the following financial and research administrative functions, which may include but are not limited to the following, within the Department of Economics:

- Financial management: responsible for the financial management of the Department, such as ensuring that all incoming funds and payments are recorded and verified, and departmental and staff cost points are managed;
- Administering the financial activities of the Department and staff, such as payment of vendors, purchases of the Department such as equipment and computers, and investigating and managing enquiries on budgets;
- Financial administration, such as drafting budgets and reports for the Department and staff;
- Collating, presenting and advising on financial information;
- Updating and reconciliation of financial cost points and checking financial accounts of the Department and staff;
- Checking claims and travel documents of departmental staff and managing and maintaining the departmental asset register;
- Keeping abreast of changes to SU¿s financial policies and guidelines, and advising staff on guidelines and procedures;
- Assisting staff with the development of project proposals and preparing project budgets, checking compliance with SU proposals and funder requirements, and providing general support to researchers;
- Administering research outputs and Faculty research shares of the Department and staff;

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- Baccalaureus graad in 'n handelsrigting (NKR-vlak 7);
- Bewese syfer
- en analitiese vaardighede, met aandag aan detail;
- Kennis en bevoegdheid in finansiële
- en projekbestuur;
- Uitstekende rekenaarvaardighede, insluitende van die Microsoft Office pakket (veral MS Excel) en kommunikasie rekenaarpakkette (insluitende wolkdienste en ander samewerkingtoepassings);
- Kennis en bevoegdheid in universiteite se finansiële
- en administrasiestelsels;
- Minstens drie jaar se toepaslike werkservaring in finansiële bestuur;
- Goeie mondelinge en skriftelike kommunikasievaardighede in Engels;
- Effektiewe beplannings-, organisasie
- en prioritiseringsvaardighede;
- Die vermoë om selfstandig te werk en eie inisiatief aan die dag te lê;
- Die vermoë om deeglik en akkuraat onder druk te funksioneer;
- Die vermoë om diplomaties teenoor mense op verskeie vlakke binne en buite die Universiteit op te tree;
- Bereidwilligheid en beskikbaarheid om van tyd tot tyd buite normale kantoorure te werk op versoek.
- Bachelor's degree in a commerce field (NQF level 7);
- Sound numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail;
- Knowledge and competence in financial and project management;
- Excellent computer skills, including sound competence in the Microsoft Office packages (particularly MS Excel) and communication computer packages (including cloud services and other collaboration tools);
