**OPERATIONS MANAGER (WASTE RECYCLING / COLLECTIONS / PLASTIC PACKAGING) - Durbanville, Western Cape**
**R40 000 - R60 000 P/M Negotiable depending on Qualification and Experience**
Our client, an established Waste Management concern is search of a business minded Operations Manager to manage multiple project sites.
One would describe you as having sound operational knowledge and expertise gained ideally within the waste collection and recycling sectors (systems and process) and / or related sectors (energy, water, plastic packaging manufacturing, etc.)
**Main Purpose of the Role**:
You will engage and form relationships with waste businesses and funders and demonstrate experience in working with businesses owners (understanding, troubleshooting and supporting) as well as in reporting to funders/clients (private, public and NGOs).
**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Project Management**:
- Plan and Co-ordinate all activities to ensure timeous launch of the Programmes entrepreneurs against committed timelines
- Plan and Co-ordinate all activities on collections investment projects.
- Work with the Head of Projects to develop strategies to develop the programme and grow collections capacity
- Manage process of assigning entrepreneurs to an operating area (depending on what is available and where they are based)
- Manage issues with collection areas - working with the Head of Projects for the assigning of new areas
- Manage performance of all service providers to ensure successful launches and implementation
- Manage entrepreneur drop-out and replacement process
- Work closely with the Head of Projects and Financial Manager to ensure sound financial management and operating within agreed budgets
- Ensure compliance to the funder requirements and provide feedback to stakeholders
- Manage the development of the software Application that will enable the Company to scale up to more operational units
**Legal/HR**:
- Manage Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing with every entrepreneur that joins the Programme
- Manage any performance management related matter with entrepreneurs
- Manage any breach or termination case with lawyers
**PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT: OPERATIONS**
- Manage dedicated operational staff to ensure that the programme is performing all its functions, this entails:
**IT and training**:
- Train the entrepreneurs on the relevant IT platforms
- Manage the trouble-shooting process with IT-related or system matters
- Oversee materials provider training if required
- Co-ordinate programme operations training
**Logistics management**:
- Purchasing and delivery of vehicles to new entrepreneurs
- Co-ordinating and monitor service process for every vehicle and trailer
- Assisting with permissions for land access where necessary/applicable
- Monitoring collection areas and routes of entrepreneurs to ensure percentage of community collections is being met and area boundaries are being obeyed
- Assisting entrepreneurs with setting up relationships for commercial collections
- Establishing and maintain relationships with collector and recycler network partners
- Assisting entrepreneurs to secure a safe storage location for trailer and vehicle where necessary
**Ensuing compliance**:
- To the sponsors specified criteria
- According to MOAs
- Monitoring volume reports to track performance of entrepreneurs
- Ensuring entrepreneurs are adhering to the MOA and operating procedures are being followed
- Site visits to check on physical appearance of trailers and equipment
- Entrepreneurs are only operating within their prescribed collection areas
- Initiating intervention to address non-performance
**Administration**:
- Book flights, venues, catering, and transport where necessary for training
- Get comparative quotes for specified equipment
- Get comparative quotes for service providers/manufacturers according to provided specs (e.g., school activations service provider)
- Co-ordinate deliveries and couriering of documents, equipment, and vehicles to entrepreneurs
**Qualifications, Skills and Experience needed**:
- ** Project Management / Relationship Management / Business Administration / OR Related Degree**:
- ** 5-7 Years' experience within the recycling / waste management / waste collection / plastic packaging manufacturing arena is essential**:
- ** 3 years project management experience gained in managing multiple projects**:
- ** Stakeholder engagement experience** gained (client, funder, NGO, government)
- Ability to manage service providers and performance delivery
- ** MS Office proficiency** is essential, in particular strong MS Excel, Office 365 and **MS Projects essential**:
