Technician - Pipeline Position

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
**Generic Objectives**
- Thorough understanding of chilled water installation and their method of operation.
- Thorough understanding of self-contained air conditioning systems and their method of operation.
- Through understanding of cold and freezer rooms and their method of operation
- Through understanding of ventilation systems and methods of operation
- Through understanding of Air handling systems supplied by chilled water and their method of operation
- Close liaison with the helpdesk personnel to ensure calls are restored within the required time
- Ensure that all air conditioning and refrigeration equipment within the hospital is installed and maintained in such a way that al laws and regulation are adhered to
- Continually evaluate and improve maintenance activities for all items of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment
- Ensure that best operating practise is applied when undertaking maintenance task/repairs
- Identify repetitive failure, determine root causes, develop appropriate strategies

**Site Specific Objectives**
- Monthly checks - Cooling system (chillers, condenser, pumps, filters,), including regular performance testing and functional checks, coolant, coolant control, regulatory authority reporting, verification operating times, filter changes, filter flushing,
- Quarterly checks - Piping, valves, local cooling appliances / equipment (e.g.. fan coils,, computer cooler) including fixtures and control equipment, including functional checks and performance testing, aeration,
- Daily inspection - Cooling Systems - local - e.g.. Computer rooms, including functional checks and performance testing, aeration,
- Weekly check - Heat Production Plants, including regular performance testing and functional checks and when appropriate cleaning/de-sooting,
- Quarterly service - Heat Distribution Plant - piping, shunt groups and local heaters (e.g. Aero temper, fan coils, radiators, radiant heaters, etc.) incl fixtures and control equipment, including functional checks and performance testing, aeration, filter / strainer changes, filter flushing,
- Monthly checks - Air handling units, ducting, exterior wall grilles, dampers, fire dampers, including performance testing and operational check, replacement of bearings and V-belt. Complete the Air Handling Unit Checklist and file for record keeping,
- Monthly check - Air filters and filter controls, including regular inspection and care, performance testing, cleaning, replacement of filters,
- Monthly check - Kitchenette Refrigerator / freezer, monthly
- Quarterly Minor Service: Clinic; Security Office & Pilot Office and all installed mid-wall splits,
- Daily Inspection: Basements Extraction Fans. - Daily Inspection: Aircons in Main UPS Battery Room. - Quarterly Service: Facilities Maintenance Office (U/B). - Quarterly Service: UPS Room (L/B). - Measurements of the Aircon Temperatures from the Diffusers on the floors on request - Weekly check: Air conditioning units at Battery Store at the Micro Grid, - Quarterly check/ wash: Air supply filters at the Micro Grid Containers. - Complete all assigned work orders within the SLA timeframe. ISO 9001; 14001 & 18001 - Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Standards - Adhere to the TFS Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) Management System’s Policies & Procedures of as applicable to this position.

**Qualifications**:

- Trade Test Certificate
- 5 years' experience with handling HVAC units and UPS units
