Production /manufacturing Factory Manager

A well-established casket manufacturing plant situated in Phoenix, Industrial Park, seeks to employ a Factory Manager;
Duties and responsibilities include ;
- Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed production requirements
- Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining and improving quality standards
- Be responsible for production output, product quality and delivery
- Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
- Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
- Monitor operations and initiate corrective and disciplinary action as required
- Share a trusting relationship with work colleagues and recruit, manage and develop plant employees
- Collect and analyse data to identify waste and excessive areas of overtime
- Commit to plant safety procedures
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
- Address grievances and complaints that remain unresolved at Manager and Supervisory levels
- Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts
- Implement, monitor and meet manufacturing team KPI's (i.e. on time delivery, supplier performance, product quality etc.)
- Implement processes in alignment with business strategic plans and objectives
- Develop and present annual budgets
- Develop and manage daily priorities that drive production schedules to meet inventory levels, cost and quality goals.
- Analyse production and quality metrics
- Ensure all quality and regulatory standards are met in compliance with all company rules, processes and procedures and applicable laws, regulations and or legislation
- Plan, organize and run day-to-day operations to ensure material and resource are available as required to meet and exceed expectations.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, responsibility and accountability through employee
- engagement and leading by example
- Provide hands on leadership in lean manufacturing, including evaluating all existing systems, processes and metrics with a view to recommending and then implementing improvements which will minimize production costs and waste while maximizing production outputs
- Maintain, manage and report on inventory levels
- Implement and maintain tracking, of inventory processes to ensure accurate, real time, information is available at all times
- Monitor inventory levels of supplies in order to avoid any interruption in operational processes
- Support direct reports to troubleshoot and resolve problems as required;
- Provide input on feasibility or design for manufacturability of new product proposals
- **Strategy and Development**
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice Lean vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
- Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Lean activities
- **General and Task Management**
- Develop a robust continuous improvement strategy in partnership with the Management Team and key business stakeholders
- Implement and support cultural change in the manufacturing, production plant
- Provide project management, analytical and research skills and expertise
- Develop ,deliver, support and contribute towards business improvement standards in line with best practice
- Report on progress of projects, understanding the risks, dependencies, budgets, resourcing, issues, critical milestones and forthcoming pipeline, and actions necessary to ensure success
- Define, develop and publish business improvement process documentation to reflect best practice
- Undertake business process analysis, statistical analysis for improvement projects and to support wider change
- Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions
- Produce written reports and make presentations
- Undertake continuous training and development
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
- Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department
- Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors
- **People Management**
- Set department objectives/Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
- Report on achievement of targets and identify any action required for non-performing areas
- Ensure relevant on-going learning and development of all employees in lean improvement tools and communication methods
- Coach and facilitate teams and individuals to identify and implement improvement opportunities
