Cashier

**_Job description_**

The Cashier will manage all transactions with customers accurately and efficiently. Amongst other duties, this person will ring up/check out sales, bag items, request price checks, honour coupons, collect payment and give appropriate change.

**_1 Preparation Activities_**
- Receive and double check float for the day
- Know products available
- Ensure that there are no price changes from the previous day
- **_2 Cashier Activities_**
- Ensure that all items are scanned or read in to avoid any shortages
- Ensure that all items display product codes and proper pricing
- Ensure that you issue the correct change
- Ensure the correct procedure is followed when a client is paying with a debit / credit card
- Issue the cash slip to the client to enable Security to check the items upon exit
- Do not leave the till key in till when unattended
- **_3 Client Service_**
- Be friendly, treat clients with respect and dignity and assist where possible
- Ask for assistance if you do not know how to assist a client
- Assist clients on the floor when the shop is not busy and another cashier is at a till - you are also fulfilling a sales role

**_Educational Background: _**
- Grade 12
- Basic Computer Literacy
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand Afrikaans & English
- Basic Mathematical Skills

**Salary**: R25.66 per hour
