Overview

A draftsman, or drafter, creates technical drawings and plans based on the designs of architects and engineers. He/She will use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create blueprints, schematics, and other technical drawings.

**Responsibilities**:

- Create technical drawings for buildings, including homes and commercial structures
- Specify materials, dimensions, and procedures for new products
- Create 3D models to help clients, architects, engineers, and construction employees visualize the final product
- Incorporate building codes and measurements into drawings
- Create workflow diagrams for multi-step procedures
- Provide technical guidelines for construction and manufacturing

Education

Diploma or the NQF Level 6 with Construction and Engineering Drafting
