Volunteer and Social Media Coordinator

Are you passionate about rescue dogs and wildlife conservation? Are you someone who connects with people and enjoys being social? The Canine Research Group is looking for a live-in Volunteer Coordinator to help organise volunteer activities, help with our social media postings and assist with our rescue dog scent detection unit. You will be responsible for all logístical elements of volunteer activities, managing our volunteers and helping to grow our online community.

The types of activities will vary, and could include trips to Kruger National Park, Snake Handling courses, track and field work, film screenings, volunteer training etc.

Team management is very important as you will be responsible for managing our volunteer network and ensuring that volunteers enjoy being part of our volunteer programme.

Social media experience will be an integral part of this role and will be used to advertise our volunteer programme, highlight the plight of rescue dogs, and inspire our online community.

**Responsibilities**

**Event coordination**:

- Coordinating and managing teams of volunteers in a variety of tasks such as snare sweeping, wildlife monitoring, dog handling, product sales, Kruger Park trips et cetera.
- Management of any interns
- Management of budgets
- Assisting the Corporate Engagement team with securing sponsorships
- Facilitating the booking and training of volunteers for events
- Taking responsibility for event equipment
- Evaluating effectiveness of events, activations and related activities and recommend improvements.
- Negotiating with vendors to achieve the most favourable terms
- Maintain a vendor database, including relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- When required, hiring and supervising freelance staff and vendors

**Volunteer Management**:

- Growing and managing a team of volunteers
- Training, coordinating and managing teams of volunteers
- Planning of volunteer events

**Social Media**:

- Managing Tiktok and Instagram accounts
- Creating content
- Engaging with our community
- Tiktok and Instagram advertising
- Coordinating social media competitions
- Managing a social media content schedule
- Compiling a monthly social media review
- Assisting the PR Manager with the monthly Mailchimp newsletter
- Assisting the Corporate Engagement team in securing marketing partnerships
- Other ad hoc tasks as required.
