**_ Position Purpose:_**
- Ensure effective and greater utilisation of IT and security technologies within Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) for prevention,

detection, and combating of crime
- Development of security technology/IT-related project business cases

**_ Position outputs:_**
- Lead the development and implementation of Transnet’s physical security systems strategy in support of the overall TFR

Security strategy and policies.
- Ensure that TFR physical security systems strategy is aligned with and supports the Transnet 4.0 and GICT strategies
- Lead and direct the development of physical security systems operational plans and standing operational procedures (SOP)

to be implemented across Transnet.
- Develop security systems maintenance strategy and maintenance plans for implementation by corridor security managers.
- Develop security systems to support the HR plan for implementation across all Corridors
- Develop security systems operations and maintenance budget for implementations across all Corridors
- Develop physical security systems standards (PSSS) for implementation and ensure that the standards are updated,

relevant and current at all times.
- Ensure compliance with PSSS implementation in the design and installation of new security systems.
- Develop security systems design procedures for new security technology procurement and installation.
- Develop and control the administration of security systems training curriculum and its implementation
- Develop security requirements and technical specifications for transversal security systems projects
- Uphold compliance of TFR security technology to legislative mandates e.g. PSIRA
- Ensure the safety of TFR security systems from cyber-attacks.
- Conduct security threat analysis and assessment for security technology

and trends such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), and recommend continuous improvement initiatives for systems
- implementation.
- Conduct security systems assessment/audit to ensure maximum utilization of all deployed security technology.
- Organise workshops and security systems review meetings.
- Ensure that TFR security technology complies with GICT policies and standards and create a close working relationship with

stakeholders at all levels and attend all council and relevant meetings.
- Maintain a close working relationship with key industry stakeholders and security structures

**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**
- NQF Level 7 Qualification in Computer Science or Electronics/ Electrical and/or extensive relevant training in management

of large-scale security technology
- Minimum 12 years experience within the Security industry in managing security operations, of which at least 7 years in a

senior leadership role
- Seasoned professional with advanced knowledge and experience in crime prevention, including organised crime and

implementation of security programs within large, complex operations environments
- Advanced experience and knowledge of the use and leveraging of intelligence in crime prevention and in support of security

operations
- Sound knowledge about all relevant legislation, governance and management of risk and compliance
- Leadership training will be an advantage
- Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19
- Standard Job Requirements- Driver’s license code 08
