**Job Purpose**:
The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to implement and regulate Air Quality Management Systems in the Province. The successful incumbents will have the opportunity to enter into a specialised environment field and contribute to the management of air quality. This post is stationed in Cape Town, CBD.

**Minimum Requirements**:
An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree) in Natural/ Physical/ Environmental Sciences or Engineering or equivalent qualification; A valid driving licence (Code B).

**Recommendation**: Experience or training in any of the following: Environmental pollution / air quality management; Air quality monitoring; Air quality management planning / integrated environmental management; Implementation of air quality / environmental pollution related projects; Environmental legislation / policy; Environmental compliance monitoring and enforcement.
**Competencies**: Knowledge of the following: Air quality / pollution management / environmental management; Implementation of specific projects related to pollution management, specifically air quality management; Compliance monitoring and enforcement or related environmental impact assessment; Administrative or related functions; Written and verbal communication skills; Strong report writing skills; Proven computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); Planning and organisational skills; Must be able to meet strict deadlines; The ability to work well within a team; Must be able to travel for work purposes.
**Remuneration**:
Grade A: R 310 767 - R 343 113 per annum; Grade B: R 361 110 - R 398 865 per annum, Grade C: R 420 447 - R 531 117 per annum, (OSD as prescribed)

Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
