The position reports directly to the MD and will work closely with the Commercial Director and Financial Director on the executive team. You will have a team of sales managers and representatives, these individuals will be based in Durban, Cape Town and Namibia.
You can be based at either its Durban or Cape Town office, moving regularly between the two offices. The overall responsibility of this position is to provide strategic leadership through the effective development, implementation and management of marketing strategies and teams to meet organisational objectives.
While ambition and assertiveness are important elements of the position, the company expects you to be able to develop as well execute strategic plans, through leading their sales team.
**Minimum Qualification, Experience and Skills**:
- Mechanical Engineering degree with a proven marketing track record, or a Marketing Degree with proven technical experience
- MBA will be a distinct advantage
- 8 - 10 years’ proven experience at a senior management/executive level
- Experience in all aspects of developing and maintaining marketing strategies and leading sales teams
- Proven international experience in engineering industry-related sales and marketing
- In-depth understanding of the industry’s market dynamics
- A high level of critical reasoning is required
- Required to understand technical and business reports and draw accurate and logical conclusions
- Detailed understanding of financial and numerical data
- Excellent presentation skills, with clear and fluent speech
- Excellent organising and planning skills
- Strategic thinking with strong negotiating skills
- Excellent persuasive and diplomatic skills, with the ability to influence, establish and maintain internal and external business relationships
- Assertive and persuasive communicator with a strong grasp of business challenges
**Key Role Responsibilities**:
- Actively participate and contribute towards the responsibilities of the Executive Team
- Develop, establish and maintain marketing strategies
- Develop and maintain ongoing liaison with key industry role-players
- Identify and pursue potential new customers
- Liaise with clients and estimators regarding tenders/quotations
- Explore avenues of improving existing services to clients
- Liaise with internal departments regarding the execution of projects
- Liaise with clients regarding work-in-progress
- Ensure effective, branded marketing of Company throughout the industry
- Including management of social media, website, company marketing brochures and newsletters
- Manage and co-ordinate the teams’ movements and efforts to ensure long term strategic targets are achieved
Monitor and analyse market conditions through relevant market research
