Plennegy Group: Group Ohs Coordinator

A role has become available for a Group Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator for the Plennegy Group (Starke Ayres, Plennegy Research, Plennegy, Mascor, Jupidex, Mzigi Security and Pidelta). This position will be stationed at Starke Ayres in Kempton Park. The purpose of this role is to examine the health, safety, and environment of various workplaces. The responsibilities involve inspecting workplaces to make sure employers are compliant with health and safety regulations and providing feedback in the event of violations. Job duties include traveling to workplaces, conducting inspections, identifying violations, preparing reports, and speaking with managers and employees regarding health and safety standards.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Ensure the implementation of OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) in all work activities to build a healthy and safe work environment.
- Responsibility to ensure Plennegy Group complies with all Government Regulations relating to OHS.
- Ensure compliance in accordance with the Plennegy Group Code of Conduct.
- Be involved with risk reviews relating to operational and project support in accordance with SOPs, MSDS changes, and new projects.
- Conduct regular inspections and review the effectiveness of the support action plan, monitor the progress and highlight any issues identified and communicate to all stakeholders.
- Endeavour to improve OHS performance within all departments within the Plennegy Group.
- Maintain and prioritise an ongoing list of OHS activities based on inputs from self, Plennegy Group, Plennegy Group policies/ guidelines/SOPs, external stakeholders, and, local regulation
- Participate in reviewing the equipment selection and modifications in accordance with OHS.
- Work to develop an Environment and Industrial Hygiene program and monitor its parameters as per requirements.
- Define, establish, implement, and improve the Vehicle and Traffic Safety program to reduce the number of incidents.
- Assist with the accident and incident investigation process and ensure that appropriate corrective and preventive actions are taken.
- Submission of OHS reports and measurements of KPIs within the time frame.
- Define a strategy to get employees’ involvement in developing OHS implementation as well as an action plan to review the effectiveness of the implementation.
- Assist Marketing and HR with any Occupational Rehabilitation or CSR as required.
- Develop an OHS Training Need analysis based on Plennegy Group SOPs/ Guidelines and commence periodic training programs that build awareness and compliance levels relating to OHS.
- Ensuring OHS is fully understood, complied with, and reviewed throughout the entire Plennegy Group.
- Regular networking with the Regional OHS team to establish the appropriate OHS systems and processes.
**REQUIREMENTS**:
**Education**:
Min:
- NQF 7 (bachelor’s degree)
- Experience in a managerial role and implementation of OHS management systems and security programs.
- Technical expertise in risk assessment and control for development, manufacturing, and logistics, involving finished products and chemicals.
- Leadership and influencing skills.
- Analytical thinking, having the ability to assess and resolve problems and conflicts.
Ideal:
- Certificate in Health and Safety (SAMTRAC / NeBOSCH or equivalent).
**Experience**:
Min:
- Min. 3 years working experience in OHS and min. 3 years of working experience as OHS at a supervisory level.
Ideal:
- Min. 5 years working experience in OHS and min. 5 years working experience as OHS at a supervisory level.
- Hands-on OHS management and change driver in the OHS culture of an organisation.
- Sound understanding of key OHS issues in development, manufacturing, and logistics.
- Chemical, technical, and environmental knowledge along with associated risks and controls.
- Communication and coordination skills associated with leadership, influencing, and governing.
