Data Protection: Operations Lead

**ROLE PURPOSE**
A Data Protection Operations Lead is responsible for the technical support and onsite management/team leader function of the Data Protection team consisting of direct reporting resources administrating the Veritas NetBackup and DELLEMC Networker environments, from implementation, management, and ongoing support.

As a Data Protection Operations Lead, you will provide world-class delivery support to our customer by building an in-depth knowledge of the customers’ priorities and initiatives and becoming a trusted advisor that avoids customer impact and facilitates continuous improvement. You will guide and mentor junior staff within the team to achieve success in the management of the Veritas and Networker environments
- Responsible for project success, SLA/process adherence, Incident, Change and Problem management, infrastructure management, maintenance, review, and recommend on Data Protection, Virtualization, Cloud, Storage, Systems, Network, Capacity solutions.
- Responsible for performing daily operational tasks and maintaining availability at the customer data protection environment. Provisions solutions based on standardised procedures as outlined by vendor best practice documentation.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with proven track record of successful incident management
- Participate in the design and operational execution of the customer's disaster recovery process as required.
- Acts as expert for the Data Protection team in the planning, managing, and delivery of support solutions.

**TECHNICAL / PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES**
- EMC Networker backup solution administration, installation, configuration, proactive maintenance, ensure backups running within SLA
- Veritas NetBackup backup solution administration, installation, configuration, proactive maintenance, ensure backups running within SLA
- Proactively manages backup infrastructure and operations including hotfixes, code upgrades, performance optimizations and alert monitoring
- Must have good knowledge in troubleshooting backup failures on Windows, Linux, and Solaris machines.
- Expertise in Backup configuration for file systems, databases (SQL and Oracle) and VM Level Backup.
- Must have good knowledge of Policy, workflow, group, and clients for Configuring the backup.
- Expertise in Recovering the backup data as per customer expectations.
- Must have good knowledge in the Recovery process from the file system, Database (SQL and Oracle) and VM backups.
- Should have knowledge in handling the reports in EMC Networker and Veritas NetBackup
- Should have good knowledge in the Data domain. Should monitor the utilisation and alerts.
- Should have good knowledge of Clone backup copies.
- Should have good knowledge in DDVE EMC Networker in Cloud environment
- Produce regular reports for management, to assist in cost recovery, capacity planning, analysis, and consolidation
- Performs defined backup and recovery baseline testing, participates in audits
- Capacity reporting and governance
- Vendor coordination for technical challenges and solution review.

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**
- Matric
- In-depth knowledge and 5+ years of experience in Veritas NetBackup Data Protection product suites
- In-depth knowledge and 5+ years of experience in Dell EMC Data Protection product suites
- Technical and/or professional certification with one of Data Protection and Recovery Tools (Veritas NetBackup and EMC Networker essential)
- Good network knowledge and experience (essential)
- Solid knowledge and working experience with Linux (essential)
- VMware experience (advantageous)
