Job Title- Senior Officer: Western Cape Regional Marketer (post level 9) (Job ID: 5930)- Organizational Unit- University of the Free State -> Registrar -> Student Recruitment Services- Contract Type- Occupational Level- Semi-Skilled- Location- Bloemfontein Campus - Bloemfontein, FS ZA (Primary) - Closing Date- 16/10/2024- Description**Job purpose** The primary function of the role is to attract, recruit, and retain academically deserving students for studies at the university while ensuring the achievement of enrolment targets. This includes the dissemination of recruitment information, execution of recruitment activities, and relationship building with internal stakeholders and external partners. Specifically, this role focuses on attracting students from diverse market segments, with an emphasis on underrepresented groups at the university. **Duties and responsibilities**: The responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to: - Develop, maintain, and implement recruitment strategies aligned with institutional objectives, contributing to the university’s Vision 130 as part of the Directorate’s team. - Visit identified schools' career exhibitions and engage with parents in the Western Cape Province to deliver presentations and disseminate recruitment information with a focus on identifying and recruiting top achievers from the targeted groups. - Explore and advise on possible markets for postgraduate initiatives. - Attend selected recruitment activities outside official office hours as per the Recruitment Plan and on request of the Director: Student Recruitment Services. - Engage with top achievers and their parents on and off campus to advise on career choices based on their academic achievement levels and career aspirations. - Foster relationships with internal stakeholders, schools, community organisations, and other stakeholders to increase the recruitment of prospective students from underrepresented groups. - Provide advisory and reference services to prospective students. - Gather data analytics to inform recruitment decisions for discussions during the Directorate’s strategic planning sessions. - Identify, approve, and evaluate sponsorship opportunities, ensuring measurable return on investment. - Responsible for the financial management of the entities under your control. - Manage the use of the university assets allocated to you effectively. **Inherent requirements**: - A Bachelor’s degree or a B-Tech degree on NQF Level 7 in Marketing, Communication, Education, or Psychology (Counselling or Educational Psychology). - A minimum of three (3) years of relevant working experience in the higher education sector (in Student Recruitment) or high school environment. - A proven track record of working with schools in the Gauteng province in Quintile 5, Quintile 99, and private schools - A valid driver’s license. **Recommendations**: - Three (3) years of relevant experience in higher education, especially in student recruitment/school liaison. - Honours degree on NQF Level 8 in Marketing, Communication, Education or Psychology (Counselling or Educational Psychology). - Knowledge of the higher education landscape and the high school environment, focusing on Quintile 5, Quintile 99, and private schools in the Western Cape Province. - A clear understanding of how to communicate or engage with Gen Z. - Competencies**Required competencies**: - **Results oriented.**: - The ability to cope with a frequently changing environment and to adapt to evolving situations. - The ability to be reliable, responsible, dependable, and to fulfill obligations. **- Strategic thinking.** - The ability to plan work and to follow plans. - The ability to be creative and open-minded when addressing work issues. **- Business Acumen**: - The ability to adhere to rules and strictly follow work regulations. - Proficient in using MS Office. **- Leading.** - The ability to maintain high levels of personal motivation, energy and enthusiasm. - The ability to be cooperative with others, display a good-natured attitude and encourage people to work together. **- Building coalitions** - The ability to negotiate, sell, influence and to persuade others. - The ability to interact with others and establish personal connections with people. - A detailed curriculum vitae and cover letter. - Copies of qualifications (please provide the SAQA accreditation in the case of foreign qualifications). - A copy of your identity document (ID or passport in the case of foreign nationals). - Proof of registration with a Professional Body (if applicable). - A copy of your driver’s license (if applicable). - Confirmation of employment from current employer / last employer if unemployed (only applicable to external applicants). **Assumption of duties**: As soon as possible **Closing date**: 16 October 2024 **Salary**: The salary is available on request. **Fringe benefits**: (Subject to specific conditions): pension
