**Job Purpose**
- The Senior Credit Manager will need to demonstrate proactive management of high risk clients - understanding client's businesses, setting appropriate client strategies, solution driven which combined actions translate into customer retention and rehabilitation without compromising the bank's risk.
- The purpose of this role is to effectively and efficiently manage a portfolio of high risk clients through the interaction with CIB, Property Finance, Rest of Africa and Special Portfolio’s Credit, Legal and Administration structures, as well as manage multi-lender situations in consortium.

**Responsibilities**:

- The incumbent will be required to recommend credit decisions to mandated credit committees and is responsible for implementing the credit decisions and monitoring the financial health post the implementation of the credit decision.
- The Senior Credit Manager will be required to interact with various stakeholders in CIB to ensure appropriate solutions are generated for each client.
- The Senior Credit Manager will be required to interact externally with clients, external auditors, lawyers and other banks.
- To prepare and review MIS for your allocated portfolio which includes all reporting requirements for credit and operational risk monitoring as well as AIRB model back-testing & calibration.
- Will be required to be an active Committee member within the distressed debt unit.
- Will need to supervise, coach and develop staff.
- Must have a good working knowledge of financing and security structures.
- A working knowledge of the Insolvency Act and Chapter 6 of the companies act will be advantageous.
- Must be able to work effectively within a team and have a high tolerance for stressful situations. Further the Senior Credit Manager needs to be able to be adaptable and flexible and think of solutions outside of the normal credit parameters.
- They must have a high degree of financial acumen and an ability to perform under pressure.
- Good communication skills are vital, as are analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Must be able to be a problem solver - research and analyse information using appropriate problem identification techniques in order to propose a solution(s) and be able to oversee the implementation of the solution after approval.
- Identify training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from management.
- Share knowledge and industry trends with team and stakeholders during formal and informal interaction.
- Maintain a high performing team by identifying a talent pool through conducting career conversations and utilising the talent grid principles and developing talent retention programmes (e.g. job rotation).
- Preferred Qualification- B Comm degree preferably with Honors in Finance
- Minimum Experience Level- 5 years in credit or 8-year banking experience
- Insolvency knowledge advantageous
- A working knowledge of the various bank products such as current accounts, treasury products, foreign products, asset and trade finance.
