Driver Operations Manager

You'll be working alongside the rest of the operations team who are currently responsible for a business that delivers between 350 000 - 500 000 deliveries nationally a month, and still growing.

**This position reports to the Head of Franchise Network.**

**Your responsibilities will include**:
**Key responsibilities / accountabilities**:

- Managing engagement with Driver Recruitment Manager based on future driver supply forecasts and requirements
- Manage internal & external reporting around our management of the driver network, processes in place, and classification (part-time, full-time) of drivers as a labour entity
- Generate insights from our driver pool: driver earnings, competitor industry benchmarks and counter-offers, driver health - through field surveys of driver network
- Develop & track appropriate metrics to support engagement and retention of independent contract driver partners
- Retention & benefits programs: to track and improve driver tenure, by understanding the key industry levers for driver retention
- Develop processes to support driver training of newly onboarded drivers
- Inform eLearning and driver training tools according to the changing market dynamics so drivers are trained and successfully set up for their role in delivery execution
- Guide driver legal compliance in the labour market
- Negotiate with key stakeholders on commercial and contractual terms for new proposals relating to drivers
- Present on internal reporting around drivers: insurance claims, incident reporting, active drivers, churn analysis, driver behaviour management
- Oversee and manage a sub-departmental team of driver document verification agents around permit-to-work compliance in the driver pool _(legal compliance, drivers have expiring licenses, roadworthy COR's, assylum docs, etc)_
- Work with Product (tech) teams to convert driver operations' business requirements into system projects to enhance functionality
- Initiate and drive head office initiatives and processes to advance the Takealot driver network in the above-mentioned aspects of driver operations

- Demonstrated ownership or significant level of responsibility for channel(s) or key supplier relationships at national level.
- Quantitative analytical capability, with strong grasp of management principles and operational metrics.
- Strong statistical knowledge.

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- Microsoft Office experience in Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Proven track record in delivery and execution.
- Tertiary studies with a focus on Human Resource Management and Logistics.
- Track record of proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
