The Stellenbosch University Matie Shop is the official merchandise store of Stellenbosch University. This unit resides outside the traditional University framework in a spin-out company, Factory 209 (Pty) Ltd, which is 100% owned by SU (Stellenbosch University). We are the official buyers and distributors of all SU-branded apparel, gifting and accessories.

Want to work in a dynamic, fast paced retail environment on one of the most beautiful university campuses? We are looking for a friendly, confident, and engaging sales assistant / cashier who can deliver a positive and efficient customer experience. Must have a flair for sales and customer service.
- Efficiently execute all operational activities at the POS (point of sale) in a friendly and timely manner.
- Maintain high levels of accuracy when scanning merchandise and collecting payment for goods sold.
- To always ensure the safe handling of cash. Managing daily cash up and reconciliation in variances.
- To proactively promote new stock, special offers and promotions by upselling or cross selling to increase daily turnover
- To deliver superior customer service in a friendly, professional manner to both clients and the team
- Must be able to follow instructions and procedures
- Must maintain updated knowledge on all product
- Stock management and merchandising knowledge
- Ensure shop is always neat and tidy
- Must support and drive the brand’s core values

**SKILLS**
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work under pressure
- Excellent numeracy skills
- High integrity
- Team player
- Proficient in both English and Afrikaans
- Basic understand of sales principles and customer service practices

**ESSENTIAL**
- Matric certificate
- Minimum 3 + years’ experience in a customer facing role within a retail/FMGC store operations environment
- Proficient in English and Afrikaans
- Computer literate

- High School (matric) (required)

**Experience**:

- Customer facing sales: 3 years (required)

**Language**:

- English (preferred)
