The Senior Health and Safety Officer will be required to render Safety, Health and Environment related activities through adherence to compliance and good corporate governance standards in line with legislation. The incumbent will be required to identify and assess site risks by creating and implementing policies, monitoring and reviewing occupational health problems, accidents and injuries in the workplace and design preventative measures to minimize operational losses.

**Senior Health and Safety Officer Job Duties**:

- Develop, implement and review policies and procedures to ensure that the company meets all the statutory requirements relating to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
- Provide specialist advice and guidance on safety and health and risk management issues.
- Develop and direct a Health and Safety Committee.
- Coordinate workers compensation claims and liaise with stakeholders and rehabilitation providers on policy matters, claim costs, lost time, injuries, and charges.
- Coordination of relevant safety management system audits in line with approved Company and Government policy.
- Ensure that all legal appointments and agreements with service providers occur as stipulated within the OHS Act.
- Develops evacuation procedures and facilitates evacuation drills.
- Coordinate relevant training and awareness raising programs for all staff and lead in the promotion of a culture that prioritizes employee safety and wellness and embed the culture of safety in the business and its operations through relevant training and education.

- Assist the Operations Project Manager and the relevant contractors with the implementation of H&S files and any specified requirements for the effective execution of the project.
- Prepare monthly reports and assist with the investigation of incidents to establish the root cause and preventative measures.
- Management of incident and hazard reporting and workplace inspections in conjunction with Safety and Health Representatives and other stakeholders.
- Track and Report on compliance, health and safety implementation, training compliance, EMS certification and fire equipment records
