BI Analyst

**The Role**

**Skills and Experience**
Minimum:

- IT experience in development and BI
- 3+ Years Visualisation experience in any BI Analytical Too
- 3+ Years data analysis experience
- 3+ years’ experience in database design or integration experience with SQL Server databases - Basic experience in C#
- Extensive SQL query and update knowledge
- Must have the ability to present BI solutions
- COBIT (advantageous) - ITIL (advantageous)
- Proven experience in Agile and Waterfall project methodologies and SDLC processes
- Relevant experience working with IT teams
- Solid understanding and exposure to business needs, preferably in varied industries
- Exceptional facilitation, presentation and elicitation skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to document requirements with clarity
- Innovative and critical thinking and creative problem solving skills

**Key Accountabilities**
BI Analysis
- Planning and management - conclusive signed off analysis plan with complete stakeholder analysis. The IT BA must define the requirements activities that will be performed and how those activities will be performed on an enhancement, in accordance with any existing standards in the organization.
- Elicitation - complete, clear, correct and consistent requirements clearly documented and signed off.
- Analysis solution design signoff from all stakeholders. Structure the raw data collected during requirements elicitation, identify gaps in the information and define and describe the characteristics of an acceptable solution to a business problem, so that the enhancement team has a clear understanding of how to design and implement it.
- Refine the documentation based upon stakeholder feedback and iteratively ensure feasibility of the proposed requirements to support the business and user needs, goals and objectives.
- Requirements communication - written acceptance of understanding of requirements from all stakeholders.
- Perform peer reviews on business analysts functional and enhancement specifications.
- Solution assessment and validation - IT BA signs off functional testing and assists with user acceptance sign-off. Successful sign-off from all stakeholders.
- Change management - deployment into production strictly follows change management guidelines. Handover documentation completed with applicable support period - Identify data quality issues and support the data governance initiative by participating in necessary activities including data profiling.
- Ensure active participation of knowledge repository - all analysis documentation must be uploaded into the relevant portal. Ensure all relevant documentation is shared in a central repository and not on the local drive.
- Production support - resolution of agreed production support issues logged on Remedy/TFS within agreed SLA with business. Respond within agreed response time to business.
- Governance - ensure you adhere to policies and procedures (referring to security processes, change control process, DRP process, SLA, etc.)

BI Development and Support
- Promote the use of Business Intelligence (BI) tools and concepts across the organisation
- Work with user community to understand business process challenges and identify solution opportunities within Business Intelligence area
- Provide support and expertise to the user community within RTT to assist them to better utilise Business Intelligence
- Develop BI portals for customers and Internal use and ensures production rollout of the models
- Conduct training for customers on the BI solution on a regular basis
- Develop and optimise SQL queries and ensures optimal performance
- Improve and streamline processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, viability and value

Analysis and Communication
- Data gathering, research and analytical abilities so as to develop insightful conclusions and generate solutions to address user needs
- Direct quality assurance and user acceptance testing by writing test plans and managing the execution of testing (Unit and UAT)
- Oversee the ongoing development and operations of a business intelligence architecture that enables fact-based decision making and ad hoc analysis and insight generation
- Contribute to and support the organisation’s Business Intelligence strategy - Remain current with industry trends
