**Role Purpose**
The Product Catalogue Category Specialist is responsible for advancing the enrichment of eCommerce data specifically for General Merchandise, ensuring high-quality digital product data, including images, media, data, and metadata, across all digital platforms. This role focuses on optimising product data to drive online traffic, enhance product discovery, and ultimately increase sales. This role will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams - such as Merchandising, Marketing & Buying - to create and manage advanced enrichment in General Merchandising categories.
**Role Description**
- Organise and maintain product data, including specifications, images, and descriptions, utilising established processes to ensure data accuracy and consistency across all digital platforms.
- Adhere to best practices for enriching digital product data across all digital channels with a focus on General Merchandise.
- Align to category relationships and product attributes that facilitate product discovery and improve sales conversions.
- Collaborate with product data stakeholders to improve data quality and attribute setups, ensuring compliance with standards from Buying, Merchandising, and Marketing.
- Attend to the review and editing of images, media, and product descriptions for accuracy and completeness.
- Provide operational support for product data management and assist in the effective maintenance of the online catalogue.
- Conduct analysis and research to identify market trends, competition, and customer needs, informing strategies for better customer conversion from enrichment efforts.
- Analyse category, product, and promotional effectiveness while providing insights through post-campaign reporting.
- Continuously monitor eCommerce platform performance and escalate issues related to product data and content display for timely resolution.
- Execute best practices for product data enrichment processes, enhancing operational efficiency and team productivity.
- Collaborate on user experience (UX) strategies to ensure that product data presentation is optimally aligned for customer engagement and conversion.
- Establish and maintain a system for tracking product data changes and updates, ensuring an accurate historical record.
- Utilise analytics and data trends to recommend improvements in product listings, pricing strategies, and promotional activities.
- Train and support team members on digital product data industry standards and new requirements.
- Investigate customer feedback and behaviour related to product data, making recommendations for enhancements that improve the customer journey.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in eCommerce data management to continuously enhance the product catalogue.
**Qualifications and Experience**
- Grade 12 Matric (essential).
- Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field (essential).
- +3 years of experience in digital product data management within the eCommerce environment, complemented by expertise in eCommerce, retail, or related fields, ensuring the integrity of product catalogues for General Merchandise categories.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office 365 (essential).
- Tech-savvy with exposure to digital platforms and software and the ability to integrate datasets to identify solutions (essential).
