Supply Planning Manager

Africa’s leading specialist in the manufacturing of premium knitted and woven mattress fabric based in Elsies River industrial is seeking to fill the role of Supply Planning Manager.

**Job Summary**

Working as part of the Supply Chain operations team to provide leadership and direction production planning and procurement processes. This position will guide and provide tactical and functional execution of business strategies with focus on raw material requirement and production planning.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Relevant tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field is required.
- +7 years’ experience in Procurement and Production Planning with most recent in a leadership role
- Computer literate (Microsoft office, SYSPRO, Netstock etc.)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required.

**Duties and Responsibilities**, include but are not limited to the following:
**Planning**:

- Review and approve production plan for all production departments.
- Analyse and understand deviations to the plans and take action accordingly to ensure on time and in full delivery (OTIF).
- Identify when and where plans fail to meet goals and objectives and institute actions.
- Forecast all finished goods products using sales data and input from sales team
- Review materials requirement plan and ensure availability ahead of planned production
- Ensure factory capacity is maintained and allows for deviations.
- Expedite activities and recommends to Planner appropriate corrective actions to planning parameters, through safety stock, lead-time, forecast percentages, etc. to improve customer service metrics.

**Procurement**:

- Purchasing lead for all company requirements; Raw materials, consumables packaging and spare parts.
- Determine Raw material requirement.
- Supplier management and deviations of approved suppliers.
- Manage/Expedite orders.
- Pricing, landed costs.
- Manage all in-bound materials from suppliers and freight forwarders
- Manage goods in transit (GITs) between warehouses.
- Month-end stocktaking.
- Communicate relevant information such as supply issues, and the impacts of inventory levels.
- Ensure optimum inventory levels of component parts to continuously feed the production process while optimising working capital.
- Ensure on time deliveries of all raw materials, packaging and non-stocked items.
- Deliver targeted cost savings and operational improvements.
- Set budgeted spend and review committed costs against actual.
- Manage inventory in line with business requirements; by identifying potential stock outs and excess inventory levels.
- Ensure no stock-out and investigate the reasons for stock-out.
- Ensure maintenance of item costs on the system (price updates, supplier updates, new items and discontinuation of items) and liaising with relevant departments where necessary to ensure accuracy of information.
- Manage ongoing continuous improvement projects including minimum order quantity analysis and product cost reductions.
- Annual review and assignment of Store Attributes - Volume, Space, Location, Store Type.
- Forecast monthly inventory balances providing variance analysis vs. prior months and recommendations to get back to targets.
- Assist Finance department with purchase queries.

**Staff Management**:

- Create a Supply Chain strategy and culture.
- Focus on staff skills development and wellbeing.
- People development: assessment of team, feedback/coaching, delegation, performance management, and communication expectations.
- Provides training, evaluation and support to all planners and buyers to ensure process consistency, best in class planning and forecasting techniques, and appropriate execution of the MRP plan.
- Provide support to supply team with effective short/long term production plans to ensure OTIF is met.

**Reporting**:

- Generate and submit weekly, monthly and quarterly reports for Planning and Procurement departments.
- Analyse sales data to develop and strengthen planning to improve on time delivery.
- Support the coordination and report preparation for weekly production planning and raw material meetings
- Accurate forecasting to have less stock outs.
- Monthly SKU level forecasting and review in partnership with Sales.

**General / Ad hoc**:

- Lead organisation’s Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) initiatives to obtain the best possible BEE level.
- Ensure all new suppliers are vetted to align with company’s BEE policy.
- Improve the overall lines of communication and be a key pivot point between Sales, Procurement and Production.
- Optimising processes and tools to drive quick decision making
- Implementation and management of procurement and planning policies and procedures.
- Support quality audits by measuring supplier product performance.
- Support finance team at month end by expediting ou
