**_ Position Purpose:_**
- Manage and co-ordinate the activities and performance of the Geo-Spatial unit with regard to standards, processes,
activities and projects.
- Interact with internal and external stakeholders, in the delivery of services, including municipalities, state entities, equipment
suppliers, software developers and Geo-Spatial data suppliers.
- Lead in the development of Geo-Spatial business strategy and contribute to new business development initiatives.
- Oversee provision of seamless Specialised Property Services to other ODs in line with the signed Service Level
Agreements.
- Provision of property valuation services within the organisation in accordance with valuation standard principles and best
practice.
**_ Position outputs:_**
Geo-Spatial Services
- Head the development, production and delivery of Geo-Spatial services within the Transnet Group.
- Coordinate the activities of the Geo-Spatial services offices in the provision of services and the execution of property related
projects.
- Interact with all internal stakeholders, i.e. OD’s dealing with property, TGC project teams and other consumers of
Geo-Spatial services in meeting their Geo-Spatial services needs and requirements.
- To interact with external stakeholders, i.e. municipalities, government departments, equipment suppliers, software
developers and suppliers, Geo-Spatial data suppliers and property rights data suppliers in making provision for all the
- requirements of Geo-Spatial services.
- Manage the performance of the Geo-Spatial departments and functional competencies.
Land Use and Property Registry
- Ensure effective management and maintenance of the land, property and rights register for Transnet.
- Maintain information pertaining to acquisitions, disposals and transfers of rights in property.
Valuation Services
- Standardise valuation principles in accordance with the new lease policy.
- Perform property valuations in support of the ODs operations.
- Scrutinise Municipal Valuation Roll and lodge objections where necessary.
Policies, Processes, Standards and Legislation
- Develop, maintain and implement departmental policies, processes and standard operating procedures to ensure
operational efficiency within Geo-Spatial services.
- Ensure compliance with the applicable legislative framework, land tenure system and requirements of statutory bodies like
the Surveyor-General, the Registrar of Deeds and all local authorities.

- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures in the Geo-Spatial offices, to identify the risks inherent in the
operating environment, the controls related to these risks and the action plans necessary to mitigate these risks.
- Data Acquisition, Quality and Integrity
- Manage collection and collation of all spatially referenced data related to the management of property rights and to support
the property management and development process.
- Ensure the integrity of the Transnet Property Register and the Fixed Asset Register of the ODs, by conducting a monthly
reconciliation exercise and preparing reconciliation reports.
- Undertake data quality assessments, data cleansing programs, data take-on to improve data integrity.
- Embark on ongoing projects to acquire data required by ODs to ensure seamless operations of the ODs.
Business Strategy Planning and Execution and New Business
- Develop and maintain a business management plan aligned to the Transnet Property strategy and related capital and
operational budgets and in line with the long-term framework of the Transnet ODs.
- Research, develop and refine product offering of Transnet Property Corporate Real Estate, to meet customer needs.
- Market and promote the services offered to Transnet Business Units.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and prospective clients. Survey and manage client satisfaction and
expectations.
- Contribute spatially referenced solutions to Transnet Infrastructure projects.
