This is your opportunity to lead a team of developers working with infrastructure engineers, database administrators and data analysts to develop, evolve and maintain Clickatell’s products and platforms.

**Responsibilities of the Role**

The Software Development Team Lead has a strong focus on managing team members, their activities and optimizing their outputs.

Leadership
- Support your Software Development Manager to deliver the product enhancements and features
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders including Products, QA, Support and Sales.
- Lead and manage a team of software developers
- Manage and approve team leave and on-call support schedules
- Plan and assign work for the team to deliver on our product roadmap
- Provide performance feedback to direct reports though performance reviews
- Mentor and coach development team members
- Advocate for prioritization of technical roadmap with the Software Development, Product and Project Managers
- Conduct review session of team outputs with reports and the product owners
- Create incident reports in the rare event of a production outage
- Identifying and escalating matters to management where needed
- Assist with recruiting activities for the team

Solution Design and Development
- Participate in grooming sessions with technical and business stakeholders to convert requirements into technical solutions that support the development of Clickatell’s products and platforms
- Innovate and collaborate with the team during technical workshops and design sessions.
- Champion the design and development best practices, ensuring high performance and scalability
- Perform tests and produce results to ensure accurate compliance with requirements.

Operational support
- Perform problem resolution and root cause analysis, along with recommending and implementing preventative techniques.
- Support internal departments with ad-hoc client requests.

Security
- Protect Clickatell’s information, intellectual property, and corporate data systems in accordance with prescribed guidelines.
- Champion adherence to all relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures as communicated.
- Complete risk and compliance training as per internal requirements.
- Ensure adequate protection of the Clickatell brand and reputation.

Documentation
- Author and maintain documentation related to the teams systems domain.
- Actively participate in expanding existing documentation.

**Requirements of the Role**
- Qualification required
- A Diploma, B-Tech or bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, informatics or 10 years’ work experience in software development.
- Work Experience
- Has successfully led a small team of software developers
- Experience with cloud services and other technologies used at Clickatell (AWS)
- A background working in a high-volume payment transaction environment, or mobile technology platforms and systems integration would be advantageous - must be able to demonstrate a sustained track record of delivering high-quality outputs, on-time and to product or business specifications.
- Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies and embracing of their values and principles.
- Proven Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Advantageous - familiarity with the other technologies used at Clickatell:

- Java (Spring Framework / Spring Boot experience), or other comparable technology
- Front-end technologies such as Angular and Bootstrap
- Databases SQL language and scripting (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
- Unit Testing, Integration Testing, and Continuous Delivery
- Containerization (Docker / other), Kubernetes or other container orchestration frameworks
- Linux or a recognized Unix platform
- Git or other Source Control Management tools
