Job Description:
A toolmaker is responsible for making precision tools (such as jigs, moulds and dies), special guides and holding devices, which are then used in the manufacturing process to make products.

Position Description:

- Formal Artisan Qualification.
- Align, secure, and adjust cutting tools and workpieces.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines.
- Turn, mill, drill, shape, and grind machine parts to specifications.
- Measure, examine, and test completed products for defects.
- Follow maintenance schedule provided and keep records of maintenance preformed.
- Calculate and verify dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of workpieces.
- Set up, operate, and disassemble conventional, manual, and CNC machine tools.
- File, grind, and adjust parts so that they fit together properly.
- Test completed tools and dies to ensure that they meet specifications.
- Tool and die makers troubleshoot and perform repairs on dies and machines as needed.
- For safety's sake, tool and die makers must keep their work area clean and well-organized at all times.
- Knowledge of the hazards involved with operating / working on the machines so to be able to work safely.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

- Maintain Fin Presses and Fin Press Tools.
- Maintain Hairpin Bender.
- Maintain Pipe Bender.
- Maintain Presses and Press Tools.
- Maintain Punching Machines and Tools.
- Maintain Bending Brakes
- Maintain and keep functional all other mechanical equipment where required,

Example:

- Expanders
- Rivet Guns
- Compressed Air System

Job Requirements:

- Matric or equivalent
- Very good understanding of brazing techniques.
- Be able to braze copper to copper.
- Knowing all the hazards involved with doing brazing so to be able to work safely.
- Competent to read and understand a detail drawing.

**Salary**: R22,000.00 - R24,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Johannesburg, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
