Senior Data Analyst

Role Purpose
Providing the business with actionable insights predominately, but not limited to, the medical claims risk areas.
- To identify risk that supports the wider business audience to manage and coordinate projects and initiatives to manage business risk.
- Support the business to influence business strategy and manage costs of the scheme through various projects and risk-mitigating strategies/interventions.
- Support the Business Units with the tools to manage risk in a manner consistent with regulatory and business requirements.
Requirements
- Matric.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in computer science, information systems, information technology, or related field. Masters degree preferred.
- Strong background in SQL (Writing codes).
- Economics and business administration advantageous.
- 2 years+ of Mathematics/Applied Mathematics required.
- 2 + years in Analytical tools (IBM Analytical tools, AWS, or Power BI).
- Data Warehouse Design.
- Statistics Preferable.
- Proficient in using MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint.
- 5 years + of data analytics experience, ideally within the health sector.
- Experience in a deadline-driven environment & effective prioritisation within given deadlines.
- Experience in the Health Care Industry, data warehouse, and business knowledge of the Momentum Metropolitan environments will be a distinct advantage.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines.
- Experience working in report-creating, modeling, and trend forecasting role.

Duties & Responsibilities
SQL
- Routinely writing SQL code in an efficient manner to ensure optimal use of space and hardware resources.
- Writing SQL code smartly in meeting all requirements for purposes of providing data to the management team in support of insights.
- Providing support to the business intelligence division insofar as writing SQL code for extracting data regarding the design and build of groups, features, and which may include clinical and billing rule combinations, etc.
Analysis
- Help develop KPI’s within the business units for the purpose of identifying trends and evaluating the success of the business initiatives.
- Develop statistical models, using various tools, and diagnose, validate, develop and improve the performance of these models using SQL or available tools.
- Performing data analytics to identify transactions that breach a given set of rules and or thresholds etc.
- Routinely performing quality checks on own data outputs to ensure robust, accurate, and reliable data to internal and external clients.
- Build logical and conceptual data flows that are in support of business unit requirements and guide business units in the appropriate and effective use of data.
- Refining analyses to limit false positives in results.
- Recommending and developing control improvement strategies for the business.
- Improving and driving more efficient current data models.
- Continuously analysing data needs such as routine/repeat requests for purposes of developing automated reports to improve data extraction efficiency.
- Driving Data Quality in the Medical systems with debugging, testing, and documenting to deliver the highest possible value to the business.
- Help build relevant, accurate data models to support solutions.
Support
- Perform Business Intelligence based administrative tasks.
- Providing support to the wider business operations through all programs and initiatives, enabling continuous improvement of data quality, business unit performance, and overall business performance.
- Oversee activities of Junior Data Analysts.
- Work across the business units to understand the business’s functional and data requirements.
- Work with business HOD, management, and key stakeholders, in developing detailed business requirements, conducting gap analyses, creating functional designs, and guiding business leadership through analytical data.
