Production Planner

PURPOSE

To plan materials and production for the allocated departments to ensure efficient production, adherence to plan and ultimately shortening lead times so that customer service level is maintained so that Belgotex customer satisfaction, volume and profitability goals are achieved.

SPAN OF CONTROL

This role is responsible for the following processes:
Extrusion plants, Needlepunch, Structuring, Tile lines or Twist, Heatset/ Stufferbox, Pattern Split, Airentangling/ Airtwist, Tufting and Backing or Customized orders and Grass projects

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & OUTPUTS

Production Planning
- Prepare a daily, weekly and monthly production plan for the allocated departments that optimise the utilisation of plant capacity to achieve the required production output while balancing waste, standing time and equipment efficiency.
- Monitor production adherence to plan and identify plan shortages and overruns and address proactively
- Report to the Production Planning Manager any changes that may be affected by production plan changes.
- Ensure that demand and customer expectations are sufficiently met by planning material requirements and local production proactively to cover such demand.
- Work closely with Commercial teams/Demand planner to establish a sales / demand forecast at SKU level for production and distribution centres.
- Maintain warehouse stock levels at the required coverage levels to avoid lost sales or over stock situations through the development and implementation of stock models and systems that consider historical sales, sales forecasts, planned commercial activity, product phasing in and phasing out and the like.
- Develop a production strategy that identifies which products will be stocked on shelves (MTS), which products will only be manufactured on receipt of order (MTO) and other suitable approaches.
- Develop a master production and capacity forecast schedule for operational budgeting requirements and capacity planning and phasing.
- Identify demand forecast risks and develop effective mitigation plans.
- Optimise the utilisation of plant capacity to achieve required output while balancing waste, standing time and equipment efficiency.
- Issue and monitor a daily, weekly and monthly production schedule that informs impacted teams of the planned requirements so that sufficient preparation can take place prior to scheduled date.
- Monitor production adherence to plan and identify plan shortages and overruns and address proactively.
- Report daily to customers and stakeholders that may be affected by production plan changes.
- Manage elements that contribute to On Time in Full target achievement.
- Maintain accurate master data and transactional data in Belgotex systems to support effective analysis and data interrogation.
- Constant monitoring, work in progress and outstanding orders.

Reporting and Documentation
- Report against agreed goals, IBP and financial metrics to reflect the department’s performance and expenditure.
- Develop clear short
- and long-term action plans to address variances to achieve strategic business goals by using leading indicators and **short interval control, monitoring and re correct techniques**:

- Ensure that all processes are **documented** into required SOP and process flow formats and stored centrally as per agreed document management system.
- Develop and implement **continuous improvement** processes to improve customer service levels, reduce variability and manage supply chain constraints

- Ensure housekeeping is kept to **5S standards**Knowledge and skill
- The incumbent at least 3 years significant Production Planning/Supply Chain experience
- Previous experience in either establishing, digitising or reworking structures, processes and procedures is essential
