Accounts Clerk

**Key Responsibilities**:
- Prepare verify, and process invoices, purchase orders, and expense claims accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and classified in the appropriate accounts.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial records on a regular basis.
- Assist in creating and maintaining financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in preparing and filing tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable and payables, contacting customers and suppliers as needed to resolve any issues.
- Maintain accurate and organized physical and electronic financial records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closings, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.
- Support the Hotel Accounts team in preparing and analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and making recommendations for process improvements.
- Assist in conducting internal audits to ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- A tertiary qualification in finance will be an advantage.
- Proven experience as an Accounts Clerk or similar role, demonstrating a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Knowledge of tax laws and experience in tax preparation is an asset.
- Professionalism and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.
**Physical Requirements**:
The role of an Accounts Clerk may involve extended periods of sitting, working at a computer terminal, and performing tasks that require visual accuracy and manual dexterity.
