- Responsibilities:
- Perform and control the full audit cycle including risk management and control management over operations’ effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations.
- Determine internal audit scope.
- Obtain, analyse and evaluate accounting documentation, previous reports, data, flowcharts etc.
- Prepare and present reports that reflect audit’s results and document process.
- Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality and goal achievement.
- Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings.
- Maintain open communication with management and audit committee.
- Document process and prepare audit findings memorandum.
- Conduct follow up audits to monitor management’s interventions.
- Continuous knowledge development regarding sector’s rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards.
- Duties included but not limited to the following:
- Ensure finance and store compliance with set policy and procedures;
- Attend bi-annual full stock-takes to document process, conduct independent verification and report back;
- Required to travel nationally between stores to execute the function of Internal Auditing.
- Safe guarding of company assets specifically stock, assets and cash.**Inherent Requirements**
- Desired Experience & Qualification:
- Minimum Grade 12;
- Degree / Qualification in Internal Auditing, Accounting or Finance
- Proven track record in an Internal Auditing or Auditing function;
- Experience within the Retail environment of at least 2 - 10 years;
- Internal Audit Experience in an FMCG environment of 2- 5 years will be very advantageous;
- Administration qualification will be advantageous if the person has such skills;
- Strong finance background required
- Requirements:
- Proven working experience as Internal Auditor or Senior Auditor;
- Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases;
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data and to compile detailed reports;
- Proven knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules and regulations;
- High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
- Computer Packages Experience required:
- Pastel (required) Evolution (advantage);- SAP (required)- Excel (required);- Arch (advantage).- Knowledge:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Computer literacy (Strong Excel, Word and Outlook skills);
- Basic administration processes (including filing and record keeping).
- Characteristics:
- Deadline driven- Self-starter and able to work without supervision;- Analytical and accurate;- Will be required to attend all stock takes (2 - 3 times a year);- May be required to work either Saturdays or Sunday’s;- Specific Additional Requirements:
- Must have own reliable transport;
- Would have to have occupied the same or similar role within a fast-paced environment, also be prepared to travel to stores when required for Audit reasons and site inspections, etc., on an ad hoc basis.
