ERM is seeking an experienced Principal Consultant to perform the role of technical focal point (TFP) for a large program of downstream work for a multinational Oil & Gas client. As the TFP, you will guide the preparation of client deliverables (proposals, strategy documents, reports, etc) prepared by project teams, you will review same and work with the project team such that the deliverables are of suitable quality for submission to the client and such that final review and sign-off by the Partner, prior to client submission, takes a very limited amount of time. As the TFP, you will be most knowledgeable on client commercial and technical strategy and requirements as this relates to the investigation of hydrocarbon contaminated sites, including remediation of same, distilling this knowledge into project teams to ensure quality deliverables are prepared, and leveraging advancements in technology to streamline and improve project delivery. Additionally, certain deliverables are reviewed by the client’s in-house technical experts, and you will lead the discussion of client comments and findings with the client technical expert, and identify changes to implement to templates or ways of working. From reviews of deliverables as well as technical advancements in contaminated land investigation and remediation and client updates, you will identify training needs, develop training materials, and roll out training to the ERM project delivery team to improve their strategic and technical understanding.
As a technical expert, you will contribute your leadership, client relationship, and technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM’s business and client base, while networking with ERM's global technical communities to maintain and advance your technical understanding and skills and share with the client team. RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Support Project Managers (PMs) with the technical scope when developing proposals to make sure we are doing what we need to, to meet client objectives.
- Review data from fieldwork with PMs to understand whether data supports progression to meeting project objectives. Identify if additional work is required (potential change order) or if a change in approach is needed (and then TFP and PM to discuss with the Partner in Charge (PIC) when a change in approach is necessary). This will help:

- Review project status and the need to submit a deliverable as planned, or to suggest a potential change of approach to the client;
- Centralise feedback on where training is needed when we see consistent issues with data gathered in the field.
- Review first draft of each deliverable and send back to the report writer to address comments, and review again to confirm comments have been appropriately addressed, sign off the report as the technical focal point prior to submission to the PIC for final sign-off and submission of the deliverable to the client.
- Attend peer review calls with client technical expert and align with Shell on any necessary changes to deliverables.
- Consolidate client peer review feedback to identify areas for improving project technical approach and reports.
- Identify technical training needs for the team, based on reviews and client feedback, and develop and deliver training to team as needed.
- Standardise and improve our technical delivery to the client as needed.
- Leverage data and technology to deliver projects more efficiently, working with the data management and visualization team.
- Identify when internal Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) are required to support delivery of the work.
- Do on the job training following reviews (i.e. feedback from the review), to improve your technical skills and understanding.

- TFP will enhance the following aspects of project delivery:

- TFP supports review of data as it becomes available (lab results, field work such as permeability testing, etc). We must review and QAQC data within 3 days of receipt;
- Integrate data into CSM- identify gaps, reconfirm or adjust strategy;
- Identify most suitable example/template for report;
- Check QAQC file, review report and sign off as technical reviewer; and
- Review other deliverables, such as strategies, presentations, etc, and sign off as technical reviewer.

- TFP will provide feedback to author, author must make changes. TFP to explain why changes are needed, so writer understands and improves their knowledge.
- Understand all client requirements including client technical positions, ensure all technical and client guidance is accessible to the client team.
