Picking Supervisor

Our client a high-volume Cold Store company is urgently looking for the expertise of a Picking Supervisor to join their team. Experience in a high-volume operations environment is essential.

**POSITION PURPOSE**

Responsible for the utilization of the picking freezer, supervision of the pickers on a day-to-day basis, maintaining of stock accuracy, monitor and oversee the housekeeping of the freezer rooms and the administration of the warehouse management system by investing in own personal development and supervising direct reports.

**KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS/OUTPUTS/RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Supervision of Pickers on a Day to Day Basis
- Responsible for the Utilization of the Picking Freezer
- Maintain Stock Accuracy
- Define Team Outputs
- Monitor and Oversee the Housekeeping of Freezer Room A and B
- Administration of the Warehouse Management System

**POSITION PROFILE**

**Qualifications**
- Matric with a course in Supply Chain or Logistics
- (Recognition for prior learning (RPL) based on years of experience and knowledge gained will be granted to those already in the position).
- 3 to 5 plus years’ experience at a supervisory role or similar, in a high-volume colds store operation, within the food industry.

**Technical Competencies Knowledge/Understanding**:

- Knowledge of ISO22000 and food safety management systems
- Basic technical understanding of equipment (material handling)
- Knowledge of maintaining stock levels and accuracy
- Understanding of any warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Knowledge of Health & Safety
- Mobile Racking

**Skills**:

- Supervising of staff

- Microsoft Intermediary

**Legal requirements**
- Valid Code Be driver’s licence
- Own transport
- Passed criminal checks
- Passed medical exams

**ACTIVITIES**

**SUPERVISION OF PICKERS ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS**
- Ensure pickers are picking from correct location and picking correct quantities timeously.
- Ensure pickers do not leave pallets without labels or wrapping and untidy in the freezers.
- Monitor pickers picking times and accuracy.
- Disciplinary action to be taken on any staff member not meeting their job function.

**RESPONSIBLE FOR THE UTILIZATION OF THE PICKING FREEZER**
- Ensure picking room is replenished continuously with fast moving line items.
- Ensure stock is relocated systematically and physically.
- Communication with Shift Supervisor for flow of operations and any changes that may need to be made.

**MAINTAIN STOCK ACCURACY**
- Ensure line counts are done in picking room at least once a week.
- Ensure correct pallets are put in correct locations after picking.
- Checking of all fine picking and bulk orders picked for the day and issuing correct information to admin to dispatch.
- Monitor and report damages which should be kept to zero

**MONITOR AND OVERSEE THE HOUSEKEEPING OF FREEZERS**
- Being ISO22000 certified housekeeping is of utmost priority - products cannot be compromised in any way.
- Ensure after every shift pallets are wrapped and put back into correct locations
- Ensure picking room is swept and neatened with empty pallets either stacked or taken off after every shift end
- Responsible for ensuring accurate stock holding in the freezers and that products are located correctly and timeously.

**ADMINISTRATION OF THE WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM**
- Making sure that the WMS matches physical locations in the Picking Room.
- Picking allocation report to be sent out daily with accurate information before shift end.

**Salary**: R 9 000 - R 11 000 CTC
