Senior IT Manager

The Faircape Group constitutes a group of companies with interests in a number of activities including Healthcare, Retirement Holdings, Telecommunications,, Utility Management, infrastructure installation, Property Management and related activities.

**Duties will include but are not limited to the following**:

- Analyse business needs presented by users and recommend technical solutions with completion timeline
- Maintain organisation’s effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans
- Direct research in emerging technology by studying organisation goals, strategies, practices, and user projects
- Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to internal IT
- Ensuring the company’s IT equipment (PC’s, laptops, phones, WIFI) is up to date and functioning

Support
- Google Suite Management and administration of the components thereof
- Support and upkeep of company websites
- Network health and upgrades, support and changes
- Upkeep of VOIP platform
- Ensure that all backups work optimally

ISP Projects
- Planning, implementing & expanding the network
- Overseeing and determining timeframes for major IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations and outages
- New fibre rollouts, planning, budgeting, ordering, configuring
- Customer base growth
- Integration with other business units

Maintenance
- Identify and plan network changes and upgrades
- Ongoing maintenance of systems and networks to support the group and both commercial and residential clients
- Scheduled changes
- Google Suite cleanups and ongoing maintenance
- New network hardware procurement

Management of MMR / Node Rooms:

- Management of all data rooms and node rooms
- Oversee that all documentation of node rooms are completed and up to date
- Ensure that all Policies and Procedures are up to date and relevant
- Management of new ISP builds
- Managing teams of cable and wireless technicians
- Keeping track of outages and responding accordingly
- New builds and design, installations and commissioning (infrastructure)
- Identify and plan network changes and upgrades in conjunction with the Management
- Ongoing maintenance of systems and networks to support the group and both commercial and residential clients
- Oversee the scheduled changes
- New infrastructure hardware procurement

Wireless and Last Mile Installations:

- Management of team that performs last mile fibre installations
- Ensuring team documents all areas of work
- Open access procedures, dealing with ISP
- Project management of fibre projects
- New builds and design, installations and commissioning

Business Unit Support
- Manage network equipment stock levels and ensure that stock levels are sufficient for the business unit to perform both customer installations or infrastructure upgrades or repairs.

Staff Management:

- Overall management of the IT Department team, providing direction and task assignments
- Identifying & developing requirements for team training, skills and growth
- Deadline tracking
- Performance appraisals
- Staff upliftment

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent
- Mikrotik Qualification beneficial
- Wireless Certificate beneficial

**Experience and knowledge**
- Proven work experience in a similar role
- Experience leading and managing large IT projects and rolling out IT infrastructures across various technologies
- ISP or telecommunications background, management and good understanding of Wireless High-Sites and Fibre Node rooms
- Ensuring the physical network is well planned, documented, redundant and secure
- Installing key infrastructure in the network such as core switches and routers
- Facilities management, stock, procurement
- Ensuring that all infrastructure adheres to the TIA/EIA 568-B standard
- Layer 2 protocols such as Vlans and including QinQ / Selective QinQ to support an open access fibre network
- IPv4 and IPv6 addressing and subnetting
- Fibre and ethernet technologies
- Experience with backup and UPS technologies
- Wireless PtP, PtMP and backhaul technologies
- Routing protocols, e.g. OSPF and BGP
- Routing filters
- Tunnelling, e.g. EOIP / PPTP etc.
- Brands such as Juniper, Mikrotik, Cisco, Dell, HP, Ubiquiti
- Peering relationships
- Technical IT based experience (Phones, laptops, PC’s, VOIP, WIFI etc)
