Chief Financial Officer

**Role Purpose**

Provide strategic leadership to formulate, facilitate and drive strategic initiatives in the respective businesses so that they can deliver on objectives and goals. In addition, provide strategic leadership on financial matters and oversee financial operations for the business by providing professional and ethical financial practices and delivering an effective finance service offering that is aligned with business and segment as well as Group Finance strategy, to ensure the sustained profitability of the business.

**Requirements**:

- Postgraduate degree in BCom Accounting ,Financial Management or Management Accounting.
- Registered chartered accountant with South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
- 10 years post-qualification experience in finance and risk management in an insurance and financial services environment.
- 3-5 years in a senior management position.
- Knowledge of Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and risk management principles.
- Understanding of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) and Solvency Assessment and Management (SAM) practices and philosophy.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

**Actively support the CFO of the Segment to drive financial strategy and the Executive head of the business unit to drive business strategy (Business Partner).**
- Actively support the CFO of the Segment to help drive the overall financial strategy.
- Actively play the role of business partner to the Executive Head to help drive the strategy foreach respective business unit.
- Ensure accurate financial and operational reporting.
- Provide rigorous financial analysis and insight to the Executive Head to influence sound strategic
decisions.

**Lead and direct the finance function within the segment in support of business objectives (Internal **Process).**
- Keep abreast of trends, legislation and best practices within the financial management field inorder to optimise service offering and delivery.
- Create platforms that facilitate the creation of strategic partnerships with business leaders in order to understand business priorities, challenges and requirements.
- Collaborate with senior management to formulate short and long-term strategic financialobjectives and operating strategies for the business, in line with the overall business strategy of the segment, as well as the overall financial strategy of the segment and Group.
- Oversee the design of effective and efficient futuristic financial modelling in support of the business strategy and new business ventures.
- Support the development of new business initiatives by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities, unpacking the financial implications and make recommendations regarding the financial viability of new business.

**Oversee the budgeting and financial reporting process and implement sound financial controls **(Finance).**
- Coordinate the process for the development, implementation and monitoring of fit for purpose budgets to ensure the segment operating model is adequately budgeted for.
- Control the budget for area of responsibility, including the authorisation of expenditures and implementation of financial regulations.
- Influence the allocation and management of shared costs in line with MMI’s operating model.
- Oversee the monitoring of financial performance by measuring and analysing business results,initiating corrective actions and minimizing the impact of variances.
- Oversee the production and delivery of accurate financial metrics, statements and reports for the segment (Income Statement, Profit and Loss Statement etc.) within agreed timelines.
- Ensure the integrity of data and systems to enable accurate financial reporting.
- Present a complete analysis of financial results including strategic and tactical insights and recommendations to executive committees and boards.

**Measure and report on the impact of risk and compliance initiatives within the segment (Internal **Process).**
- Keep abreast of changes in the business operating environment in order to monitor the business unit’s risk exposure against its risk appetite and limits.
- Monitor and report on all aspects the segment’s risk profile and outcomes of ORSA in order to highlight the details of all material risk exposures facing the segment and recommend mitigating actions.
